A 22-year-old Kansas City, Missouri, man has been charged in the shooting death of 4-year-old LeGend Taliferro, the Jackson County prosecutor announced Thursday. During an afternoon press conference, authorities announced that Ryson B. Ellis, 22, has been charged with LeGend's murder. He faces one count each of second-degree murder and unlawful use of a weapon and two counts of armed criminal action.Ellis was arrested shortly before 3 p.m. on Thursday and booked in the Tulsa County Jail in Oklahoma.A woman who was in the apartment at the time of the shooting, identified in a KCPD probable cause statement as the sister of LeGend's father, told police she had a child with Ellis, who she alleged had assaulted her a few days before the deadly shooting.After that incident, which didn't involve LeGend, the woman's brothers, including LeGend's father, confronted Ellis at his residence, where an altercation ensued.The woman also told KCPD investigators that she received threatened messages from Ellis through social media after Legend's murder.LeGend's family was on hand at a press conference to announce the charges.Charron Powell, LeGend’s mother, said that she is “grateful that we are in the steps to justice,” but also expressed remorse for her son’s suspected killer and the culture of violence in Kansas City.“This is a lose situation, for my family, and including his,” Powell said of Ellis. “We have to take it a step farther and calm the violence down.” BREAKING: 22-year-old Ryson B. (KGTV) — Three of the country's biggest ticket sellers told Congressional members they would support a mandate to include all ticket fees up front for consumers, ESPN reports.The current industry standard is to reveal those "all-in" fees to consumers only after they input their personal information, including name, address, and email address, ESPN says. The practice has been called anti-consumer and deceptive by Congressional members.Amy Howe, Ticketmaster's chief operating officer, told the House Committee on Energy and Commerce that the total ticket price "should be disclosed from the outset, not at the end of the purchase process."Representatives from Stubhub and AXS also said the companies would support "all-in" pricing. Stubhub's general counsel Stephanie Burns told the committee that the company tried the pricing strategy in 2014 and 2015, but moved away from it because consumers found it confusing when competitors' prices appeared lower in search engines online.Committee chairman Frank Pallone, D-N.J., said he was particularly concerned about higher fees sneaking up on consumers."Millions of Americans shop on the internet for tickets," Pallone said. "In some ways, the internet has made this experience more convenient, but it has also led to consumers being ripped off as they try to navigate a ticketing industry that for too long has operated in the dark."Representatives from the three companies also touched on deceptive websites and venues holding back tickets to increase scarcity. (KGTV) — Navy officials say the San Diego-based aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt is searching for a Sailor overboard off Southern California's coastline Thursday.The ship started rescue efforts after a lookout spotted what they believed to be a person in the water at about 7:30 a.m., according to the Navy. The Navy says one Sailor was unaccounted for during a command-wide roll call. The Sailor's parents identified him as 20-year-old Aviation Ordnanceman Airman Apprentice Ethan Goolsby of San Antonio, Texas, Scripps affiliate KSAT reports. The Navy has not officially identified the missing Sailor.Three search and rescue helicopters and a Rigid Hull Inflatable Boat were launched to assist.The U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Navy aircraft, USS Bunker Hill, USS Russell, USS Howard, and USS Charleston are also helping in the search and rescue efforts. The Navy says search efforts will continue through Thursday night.No further information about the search efforts was immediately released.The USS Theodore Roosevelt departed San Diego just days ago for a sustainment exercise ahead of its second deployment this year, according to USNI News.
