(KGTV) - The City of San Diego may want to learn a lesson from Santa Monica when it comes to rental scooters.Santa Monica just created new parking spaces for the electric scooters and e-bikes called Shared Mobility Drop Zones. After numerous complaints about riders leaving the scooters on sidewalks, the city decided to take action.San Diego has several bike and scooter companies providing rentals, including Bird and Lime.When asked about the possibility of creating similar parking spaces locally, a spokesman for Mayor Kevin Faulconer said, "The City is looking at a variety of ways to encourage the use of alternative modes of transportation, while keeping the public right of way clean and safe. As an example, we are in the process of installing more than 100 bicycle racks in different parts of the City. (KGTV) — Cal State San Marcos police are warning students and community members after a stranger was caught touching himself in front of two women.The incident occurred Monday at about 5 p.m. at the campus' Mangrum Track and Field facility, the college said. Two females who weren't students arrived to work out and saw a man near the pedestrian entrance water fountain. As the two women were walking on the track, the man reportedly made a comment to them and that's when they noticed he was committing the lewd act.The women immediately reported the incident to campus police. The man was last seen riding his bicycle up the pedestrian ramp and then west on Craven Road toward parking lot XYZ.The man is described as in his mid-30s, about 5' 8" tall. with a bald or shaven head and thin build. SARASOTA COUNTY, Florida — Sheriff Tom Knight announced the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office is seeking candidates to protect 12 of its elementary schools in the county.The sheriff is looking to hire 14 candidates to fill the newly designed School Resource Deputy II position.“It has been our goal from day one to identify a practical and cost-effective solution for the school district,” said Sheriff Knight. “After ample research and internal review, we put together a program that is not only compliant with the new law, but will stand to benefit the district and its students, while appealing to law enforcement-certified career seekers looking to give back to this community. San Ysidro, CA (KGTV)- The border wait times to cross into the United States are significantly shorter Tuesday.According to a U.S. Customs and Border Protection App, the wait times at the border in San Ysidro averaged around an hour depending on the time of day.In the last few days, border crossers reported waiting up to ten hours to cross into the U.S."A lot of people going to the border five, six hours before their work entry, it's been crazy," said Jose Montanez.Montanez is a married father of two. He lives in Tijuana, but crosses to work as a manager at a taco factory. He said the lines this weekend were especially bad, even in the pedestrian lanes."Four hours, five hours waiting in line, standing in line, you get tired," said Montanez.Last Friday, CBP began "adjusting operations" to focus on essential travel. The goal is to slow the spread of COVID-19.A spokesman with CBP sent 10News a statement, that reads in part:"According to the U.S. Customs and Border Protection, a recent survey of more than 100,000 travelers on the southwest border found that the vast majority of cross-border travel by U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents is for purposes that are not deemed essential.
