(WXYZ) — Nearly 100,000 children tested positive for COVID-19 in the last two weeks of July, according to a new report from the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Children’s Hospital Association.According to the report, 97,078 kids tested positive for coronavirus between July 16 and July 30, which is nearly 1/3 of the total confirmed cases of children in the U.S. since the beginning of the pandemic.The report found that around 338,000 children tested positive for coronavirus since the pandemic began. Over the last two weeks of July, the number of positive tests increased 40%.According to the report, the academy looked at state numbers that were considered children. The age ranges vary by state, and in Michigan, it includes anyone 19 and younger, but the state recently started reporting age groups 0-9 and 10-19. (KGTV) - Solar panels are set to become a far more common sight atop homes in California.The California Energy Commission is set to adopt the new building energy standards that, in part, will require all new homes constructed to include solar panels.The mandate would affect all single-family and low-profile (three stories or less) homes, condos, and apartments that obtain building permits after Jan. 1, 2020.RELATED: Top candidates for California governor lay out plans to address affordable housing issueThe commission estimates new homes will cut energy use by more than 50 percent under the solar mandate.The standards also include updates to ventilation, nonresidential lighting, and heat transfer standards. Consumers may see an added to an average monthly payment but save an estimated on monthly heating, cooling, and lighting bills under the new standards, according to the commission.In California, solar panels can cost homeowners between ,928 to ,340 on average, according to Energy Sage.
