Xi expressed his hope that the academy would strive for excellence and establish itself as a leading base for China's S&T innovation in the health field.

He said the Vietnamese side was willing to strengthen political trust, make better use of cooperation systems and enhance bilateral cooperation to promote the sound and stable development of relations between the two countries.

Xi urged Party members to follow and practise communist ideology, despite the changes of the times and conditions.

It was noticed that internet-based governance is still unevenly developed across the country. Lack of government information sharing, regulation inconsistency as well as limited online public services are common problems, while some regions have barely begun to infuse governance with the Internet.

For his part, Diaa Rashwan, head of Cairo-based Al-Ahram Center and expert in Islamist groups' affairs, hailed the symposium as the first institutional meeting between the two sides.
