SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Police are searching for a suspect in a Serra Mesa stabbing that left two people in critical condition Saturday night.Officers responded around 7:51 p.m. to a call of a brawl outside of a house party on the 8400 block of Neva Avenue, police said. At least two people were located with stab wounds to the torso.A resident told 10News described hearing people fighting outside his home. He tried to intervene but the suspect disappeared.“I rushed out to see if I could stop them from doing anything and by the time I think they already left the scene," said Turk Sapta.The unidentified victims were transported to a local hospital in critical condition, police said.No description of the suspect or suspects was given at this time.Stay with 10News for updates to this developing story. 813

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - More than 100 homeless people will soon have a warm place to sleep at night. Thursday morning, the fourth bridge shelter opened its doors in East Village. Each shelter focuses on a different group of the homeless population. The new shelter, located on 17th St and Imperial Ave., is specific to high-risk people including the disabled, elderly, or those with medical conditions. “I can’t tell you in words, but it feels so good to get off this concrete,” says David Tharp, who has been living on the streets for the past three years. Our stuff is not going to be stolen. No one is going to attack us in the middle of the night.” There will be a total of 128 beds offered at the shelter. Nearly 20 agencies will be on-site at times providing services to fit individual needs. The city has now opened four shelters in the last two years, following the large Hepatitis A outbreak, bringing nearly 800 homeless people off the streets. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Police are alerting San Diego State students and neighbors after a man reportedly tried to steal a someone's phone before fleeing in a waiting vehicle.SDSU Police say the man approached the victim at about 9 p.m. in the 5500 block of Hardy Avenue on Wednesday. The man wrapped his arms around the victim and tried to take a cell phone from their hands, police say.The victim crouched down, grabbed their cell phone, and began screaming. A passerby saw what was happening and intervened, pulling the man off the victim.The man then jumped in to rear of a white sedan with tinted windows being driven by a second suspect.Police described the first suspect as a black male who appeared about 30 years old, 6-feet tall, with average build, short curly black hair and short facial hair. He was last seen shirtless, wearing dark-colored pants and basketball-style sneakers.The suspect in the waiting vehicle was described as a 20- to 30-year-old black female, wearing a gray or white shirt and her hair styled in a bun.Anyone with information is asked to call SDSU Police at 619-594-1991. 1109

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – More Navy SEALs and DNA experts took the witness stand Friday, one day after bombshell testimony was delivered in the war crimes trial of Navy SEAL Edward Gallagher.Two snipers said Gallagher, a decorated serviceman, shot a young girl and a man in Iraq in 2017.The fellow SEALS said they did not see Gallagher pull the trigger, but they heard shots come from his perch as the victims were struck, the Associated Press reported.Neither witness saw Gallagher fire the shots, defense attorneys argued. 525

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- More victims have come forward, saying their financial advisor stole thousands of dollars in an alleged Ponzi scheme."He preyed on the elderly folks," said San Diego resident, Brian Taylor. Brian and his wife Sharon have been married for more than 50 years. Brian, a Navy veteran, said this is not how they planned to spend their retirement. "We enjoyed our lives. We don't enjoy our lives anymore," Brian said. Christopher Dougherty was their neighbor. Sharon said they knew their family well and often met for parties or gatherings over the years. They stated investing with Dougherty in the early 2000s. A few years ago, they moved money into his company C & N Wealth Management. The Taylors said Dougherty told them they were investing in tax-free municipal bonds. They learned later that was not true. "It was actually invested in heavy equipment," Brian said. "I couldn't believe it." They said it was all done without their knowledge. The couple learned about this just this past October. "He said, don't worry, you're getting your money back and we didn't know that was the day after he filed bankruptcy," Sharon said. The Taylors are the third couple Team 10 has interviewed regarding this alleged Ponzi scheme. Sharon and David Vega said Dougherty stole about ,000 from them. That money was meant to help their grandchildren when they go to college. "We have not received any funds back," Sharon Vega told Team 10.Diane and Jerry, who declined to use their last name, said Dougherty took more than million dollars from them, meant for their retirement. "We can't even afford a burial plot at this point," Jerry said. Late Tuesday afternoon, the Sheriff's Department confirmed a criminal investigation into Christopher Dougherty with at least 30 potential victims. Bankruptcy attorney Larissa Lazarus is with the Law Offices of Mark Miller. Their firm represents 11 people in the Dougherty bankruptcy case. "They are all just good, really kind people who unfortunately trusted someone who was a licensed financial advisor and wasn't actually looking out for their best interest." She said she could not say whether or not it was elder financial abuse, but Lazarus said Dougherty was "doing things he was not supposed to be doing as a licensed financial advisor." In 2011, Dougherty was charged with a felony for taking thousands of dollars from a youth sports league. He ended up pleading guilty to a misdemeanor and was sentenced to three years summary probation. Records from the Department of Insurance showed that Dougherty "took somewhere between ,000 and ,000 from the League's bank account" when he sered as volunteer treasurer. In a letter dated April 19, 2012, Dougherty wrote to the Department: ".. due to extreme financial hardship and personal issues, I suffered a lapse in judgment that was fortunately resolved within a short period of time due to my efforts."
