Nearly 20 events are scheduled to take place in the United States alone.“It is only logical that GoTopless Day protests (or celebrations depending on the legal status of your city) would fall on Women's Equality Day since the right to go topless for women is based on gender equality as their right to vote once was,” a press release of the event states.Colorado’s fight for female toplessness While female toplessness is not banned in Denver, cities like Fort Collins are still fighting to end the ban on toplessness after a three-judge panel had shown skepticism earlier this year about the difference between male and female breasts while listening to an appeals court hearing about women’s rights to go topless in that city, according to our partners at The Denver Post. The Denver march, which has been taking place each year around this time since it started back in 2013, saw ten times more people in 2016 than the year prior, according to organizers. DENVER — In the wake of the Black Lives Matter Movement and calls to end systemic racism, many have called on white people to call out discrimination and harassment. A Denver woman says she did just that when she recorded a white woman following and questioning a Black man in a neighborhood near Cranmer Park.Beth, who did not want to be identified by her last name, said she recorded the interaction on Sunday evening and shared it on social media. The video has been viewed thousands of times.The video shows a white woman trailing a Black man walking in a Denver-area neighborhood and asking him questions about a picture. The man asked the woman why she was interrogating him, and the woman later loses her temper."You f**khead, get out of here," the woman said.At one point, Beth interjected and told the woman to leave the man alone."He's not bothering you," she said.Beth said the woman was harassing the man, which is why she recorded the encounter."I just want people to know that it's happening," Beth said. "I don't want people to have an excuse for ignorance anymore. Racism is still real, it's still everywhere, and I'm a white person with a camera, so when I see it, I have to call it out."The woman in the video did not wish to give an interview on camera or be identified, but she told Scripps station KMGH in Denver that she saw the man take several pictures of her home, and was worried they could be used for a crime. When asked if she would have reacted differently if a white person were taking photos, the woman said race didn't play a role in her questioning. She said she just wanted to know why the man took pictures of her home.During the confrontation, the man began to walk away, but the woman continued to follow him. He finally told the woman that he did not want to talk with her and said, "Have a nice day."Neighborhood resident Matt Tedeschi has lived in the area most of his life and walks his dog in the area."(I'm) shocked that not everyone is as accepting as they should be, just for someone walking down the street and question them when they have no right to question them like that," Tedeschi said.The woman in the video claims she had every right to question why the man took pictures of her home. Beth argued that it's a beautiful neighborhood and that photos are common."He is in a public space, he took a picture; people do that all the time," Beth said. "It's a movement right now where we need to prove that Black people are harassed for no good reason. It's a time where we need to have evidence to back up what we are saying."Beth said she spoke with the man after the encounter, and he asked her if he was close to Trader Joe's. She asked if he was OK.She said he told her, "I'm OK. DENVER – A natural gas explosion caused at least one building to partially collapse Tuesday in Denver, injuring nine people. Simon Crittle, a spokesperson for Denver Health Medical Center, said two people were transported to the hospital by ambulance after the explosion and collapse. One of the people suffered traumatic injuries in the explosion. The other person was stable Tuesday afternoon.Crittle said that several other people were being treated at the scene of the explosion and collapse and that first responders were looking for other possible victims.Denver Fire Captain Greg Pixley said the explosion was reported at 1:15 p.m. Tuesday and said several buildings were damaged in the area. One person who had been trapped was rescued by firefighters.Pixley said that crews were working to put out an active fire at the scene in addition to working to reduce the chance of other explosions in the area and further collapses. He said there were no reported deaths as of 2:10 p.m.An Xcel Energy spokeswoman on scene said all of the company equipment is intact up to the meters, meaning the explosion was likely caused by a customer. Xcel is working to turn off gas remotely. The spokeswoman said the company has a distribution site at Lipan Street and Santa Fe Drive and staff at that location said they felt the explosion.Eileen Andrews, who owns the nearby Baker Neighborhood Market, said she saw a man run from the wreckage of the explosion who had his clothes blown almost entirely off his body and that the man suffered burns."I mean everything was exposed -- he barely had a couple strings left of his pants. He was completely exposed and said he didn't know what happened," she said. "It was just like the biggest, loudest boom I've ever heard."She said some men who had been working on her business' HVAC system ran over to help the man and another trapped woman.Another neighbor, Edward Scott, said he was on the phone with his insurance company at his nearby home when the explosion happened."[The insurance agent] was on the phone with me going, 'What happened, what happened?' and I said, 'I don't know, I think my house just blew up,'" Scott said.He said he was hit by wood debris from the explosion and that the shockwave from the blast was so intense he thought his own home had exploded. When he realized it was another home across the street, he said he walked over to the scene and saw a person rescued from the rubble."It was two people ... a lady. And then this guy picked her up and firemen carried her out of the house," Scott said. "And then the other one ... and they were boyfriend-girlfriend and they were both bartenders and they were sleeping."Scott said the woman had been looking for her cat, which was missing, but which was later discovered alive at the scene. 2827

DETROIT — A 12-year-old girl takes a challenge and a dare that could have cost her life.It’s called the "fire challenge." Young people pour flammable liquids on their bodies and set themselves on fire.Brandi Owens says her 12-year-old daughter Timiyah Landers did the challenge with her friends last Friday.She ended up engulfed in flames. Brandi and her fiance extinguished the blaze from her baby girl and rushed her to the hospital.Timiyah is now at Children’s Hospital with second and third-degree burns over 49 percent of her body. Her mom says kids find these dangerously “outrageous” challenges on social media and Youtube. She is angry and has a message for those behind the sites that post these videos.“They need to delete this mess," Owens said fighting back tears. "It should be censored. That’s nothing that a kid should come across. I could have lost my baby, by the grace of God she’s alive. If I wasn’t home, I would have walked in to my baby dead."Owens says Timiyah knew better. So, she is urging parents to monitor their kids, their friends and their internet and social media platforms.Timiyah will likely be in the hospital for several months and will undergo several more surgeries. 1272
