A wrongful death lawsuit has been filed against the NBA in the death of Zeke Upshaw, who collapsed and died suddenly during the final minutes of a March 24 game.Attorneys Ben Crump and Bob Hillard filed the lawsuit on behalf of Upshaw's mother, Jewel at the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York on Wednesday. The lawsuit stems from a March 24 game where Upshaw, who played for the Detroit Pistons' developmental league affiliate Grand Rapids Drive, collapsed and entered full cardiac arrest. According to the lawsuit, for over five minutes, no life-saving measure was taken to address Upshaw's condition. Upshaw, who was 26 years old at the time, was then kept on life support for two days and then died. "When the otherwise healthy heart of a professional NBA athlete suddenly stops during a game there is absolutely no reason, in 2018, that his heart cannot be immediately restarted," Hillard said. "No attempts were made to save Zeke Upshaw's life. No CPR, no defibrillation, nothing. This is the tragedy of this case, Zeke should be alive today, the human consequences are difficult to quantify."Changes must come to the NBA and we are bringing the lawsuit to cause those changes. A white man who allegedly killed two people at a Kroger grocery store in Kentucky tried to enter a predominantly black church nearby minutes before the fatal shooting, police said.The two people killed Wednesday -- Maurice Stallard and Vickie Jones -- were shot in the grocery store and the parking lot, respectively. (KGTV) - One year after the West Fire scorched Alpine, residents are rebuilding.In total, the blaze burned 505 acres and destroyed 34 homes and 22 other buildings, including a commercial structure.Driving through Alpine Saturday, you could see the different levels of recovery. Some homes were a blank concrete foundation with a chimney, others were wooden frames, or brand new structures with scaffolding around the unfinished, black exterior.Lisa Campbell is on the site of her in-laws' property, Campbell Creek Ranch, every week overseeing the rebuild. "You realize how complicated recovery from something like this is," she said referring to the complications with insurance policies and permitting.On the ranch progress is visible. She walked 10News through the property, pointing out a brand new white fence lining the driveway, a freshly laid concrete bridge with black metal rails, much sturdier than the large wooden log bridge before it. Her smile grew as she reached the patio where numerous fond family memories were created. The pool looked like it was ready to be filled with water and enjoyed, lined with new plaster and luminescent tiles. Clay colored tiles created a patio for lounging poolside."The pool that they used to play in, that's coming back so that's nice to see," she said nostalgically.The hope in pipe, planks and plaster fueling the family forward."The fire and the recovery has impacted some of his decision to study Forestry," she said.
