BEIJING, June 8 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Vice Premier Li Keqiang met with U.S. special envoy for climate change Todd Stern on Monday, calling for more dialogues and substantial cooperation with the United States on climate change.     "China has noticed the change of the U.S. government on climate change as well as the positive measures it has taken," Li told Stern during their meeting in the Great Hall of the People.     To strengthen dialogue and cooperation between the two countries helps the growth of China-U.S. ties and benefits the international cooperation to fight against climate change, the vice premier said. BEIJING, April 24 (Xinhua) -- Senior Chinese official Jia Qinglin called on Friday Chinese anti-independence organizations to continue their unique role and make new contributions to the promotion of national peaceful reunification.     Jia made the comments in a meeting attended by representatives of overseas Chinese anti-independence organizations here.     Jia, head of the China Council for the Promotion of Peaceful National Reunification, said that anti-independence organizations had played an important role in creating favorable conditions for the peaceful development of relations between the two sides of the Taiwan Straits. BEIJING, April 30 (Xinhua) -- China hopes to increase cooperation with Vietnam to push forward comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership, said top Chinese political advisor Jia Qinglin on Thursday.     "Stronger Sino-Vietnamese cooperation is significant when facing with international financial crisis," Jia, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), the country's top advisory body, told Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan in Beijing.     China and Vietnam would hold a friendship year in 2010. "We should grasp the opportunity to promote our friendship," Jia said. Li visited the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention and Capital International Airport in Beijing to inspect the operations of swine flu prevention on April 29.Li said China had no confirmed cases of swine flu, but the virus could still spread to China as the outbreak was worsening in some other countries.     Entry-exit authorities must step up inspection and quarantine by conducting strict medical examinations of people traveling from areas with swine flu cases, and sterilize goods and transport thoroughly, to keep the virus from entering China, he said.     Li also urged disease prevention experts at the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention to develop a diagnostic reagent for use in testing for the virus as soon as possible.     An effective surveillance and reporting system was the basis for the prevention of swine flu, so that people suspected to be infected could be "located, reported, quarantined and treated as soon as possible," Li said.     He also urged local authorities to increase production of anti-flu medications, protective gauze masks, sterilization drugs, and respiratory machines, and enhance public education on swine flu.     Officials should closely monitor the global situation, and take prompt and comprehensive measures to deal with the virus in cooperation with the World Health Organization (WHO) and other countries, he said.     Swine flu is suspected of causing the death of 159 people in Mexico. The United States confirmed Wednesday that a 23-month-old child in Texas had died from the virus.
