COSTA MESA, Calif. (AP) — The Los Angeles Chargers could explore bringing in Colin Kaepernick for a workout depending on what happens during the preseason, but right now, nothing is scheduled. Coach Anthony Lynn says Kaepernick is on the team's workout list because he fits the style the Chargers are looking for. CLEWISTON, Fla., -- Three Clewiston High School football players have been kicked off the team after they were seen in a music video waving fake guns and flashing gang signs. Parents say the kids meant no harm and the consequences are too harsh. “Football is his way out, so taking that away from him really crushes his dream," said LaTwyiaen Carter, mother of Trayquan Williams, a senior football player that was asked to leave after he was seen rapping in the music video. Carter pointed out that Hendry County Deputies also appeared in the video and that the "kids were just having fun." She says at least four officers were around when the kids filmed it, even helping them create it. “They didn’t have to kick them off the team," Carter said. "Suspending them for a game, yes. Kicking them off, no." Carter says her son has dreams of playing football at the University of Florida. She says those dreams could be diminished now.The Hendry County Deputy Superintendent was less sympathetic to the video. “That type of behavior was so egregious and appalling that we cannot tolerate that at Clewiston High School," Robert Egley said. Egley says that even though the video happened off-campus, the video is not the type of student-athlete "role models" Clewiston should have. "Once he’s grown and out of school, he can do whatever he wants to do," Egley said. "Coaches have talked to their students about the dangers and parallels of social media." Egley later said there are no social media policies in the school handbook that pertain to off-campus behavior. Nevertheless, Carter says without football, she worries her son will give up on his dreams altogether. "He’s going to give up, he’s going to feel like nothing matters now… [He said,] 'they act like I killed somebody,' I said yeah, they really do,” she said. Carter says her son has written apology letters to his principal and his teammates and will do anything he can to get back on the team.  2089

COPENHAGEN, Denmark (AP) — Volvo Cars says it is recalling nearly 2.1 million vehicles worldwide as a preventive measure after the company discovered that a steel wire connected to the front seat belts can be weakened.The front seat belts are anchored to the car via this steel cable which can be subject to wear and tear.There have been no reports of injuries or accidents linked to the fault. The Swedish carmaker says the recall has been declared to avoid future issues.The recall is the biggest ever for the brand. CORONADO, Calif. (KGTV) -- Coronado Lifeguards confirmed a shark sighting on Coronado Beach Tuesday afternoon. According to a message posted on Facebook by police, the 12-foot-long white shark was spotted just off the shore of in the North Beach area just before 2 p.m. Lifeguards posted warning signs shortly after the sighting to let beachgoers know about the sighting. Lifeguards chose not to close the beach because the shark was not seen "engaging with anyone in the water.""The lifeguard was out on a paddle board about 100 yards from the shoreline, just past the surf in 6 to 8 feet of water, just before 2 p.m. when he saw the shark appear next to him. It was larger than his 11-foot paddle board," the department said. CORONADO, Calif. (KGTV) — An iconic Coronado bookstore says it is being forced out after 27 years at its home on Orange Avenue. Bay Books employees say landlord Kleege Enterprises has found a new tenant for the site and that it has to be out by March."I'm obsessed with this bookstore," said manager Barbara Chambers. "I don't know what I'm going to do."Building owner Bruce Kleege says this is not the case. He said he believes negotiations with the bookstore are ongoing and that he would like to keep the bookstore, albeit smaller. Last year, Kleege's company bought almost the entire block of buildings on Orange Avenue, the bookstore included, for million. Already, two high-end restaurants and a poke restaurant are on the way, replacing previous tenants. Kleege says the bookstore is paying a fraction of market rent, a gap that needs to narrow, but not close.Meanwhile, bookstore owner Angelica Muller says some of the spaces offered are off the main street, half the space, and double the rent to about ,000 a month.
