A Tennessee woman was behind a security threat that placed the White House on lockdown.The vehicle that rammed the security gate Friday afternoon is registered to Jessica R. Ford, a woman who has had run-ins with Secret Service in the past. The car also had Rutherford County tags.The incident report says Ford intentionally hit the fixed security barrier with her car while holding a gun in her hand behind the wheel.According to the report, Ford hit the gate, and continued to accelerate, while an officer demanded she put the gun down multiple times. Witnesses reported seeing smoke from her vehicle's tires.When she did not comply,  the officer removed the gun from hand before she was pulled from behind the steering wheel.Once they pulled her out of the driver's side window, they handcuffed her and searched the vehicle.The White House was placed on lockdown for about an hour during the investigation. The Secret Service confirmed no shots were fired during the incident, and no law enforcement personnel were injured.President Trump was inside the White House at the time, hosting Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull. Turnbull remained at the White House as the incident was being investigated.The incident wasn't Ford's first run-in with secret service. According to reports, Ford tried to get past security and scale a fence at the White House in April, May and July of 2017.  She was arrested and charged with unlawful entry and ordered to stay away from the White House grounds.Ford has a lengthy criminal history in Tennessee as well. In 2003, she was charged with DUI and prescription fraud. From 2004 to 2006 she was charged with multiple counts of violation of probation and resisting arrest. In 2011,  in Nashville she was charged with criminal trespassing.The Secret Services said Ford is now facing multiple charges in connection to Friday's incident including Unlawful Entry, Carrying a Pistol without a License, and Destruction of Government Property.Learn more about Friday's incident here. 2113

A suburban Atlanta police officer resigned after his department said he used foul language and inappropriate tactics during the arrest of a 65-year-old grandmother during a traffic stop, recorded on a police dashboard camera.Alpharetta Officer James Legg had been called in as backup during a May 4 traffic stop because the Lyft driver would not sign a ticket and refused another officer's order to get out of her car, officials said.In a letter to Alpharetta Public Safety Director John Robison released Friday, Legg said he felt he behaved appropriately and followed his training."I judged her actions to be passive resistance and used very limited force to end a multiple minute encounter with the suspect," he said. "Maybe I should not have used profanity, but its immediate effectiveness is not questionable and I do believe I acted reasonably under the circumstances."Dashcam video showed Legg pointing at the driver and shouting, "You're not in charge. A police department in Arkansas has apologized for sharing a misleading warning about the danger of opioids on its Facebook page."The post about the fentanyl was sent so me from another officer at another Department," the Leachville Police Department wrote on Facebook Thursday. "I simply shared it. I’m should have checked into it further before I posted it. Sorry for the confusion."The Leachville Police Department warned residents to wipe down shopping carts before using them to protect against the dangers of fentanyl, a powerful opioid. "Fentanyl or something like that still on their hands and they touch that cart handle and then you do, it can get into your system," the department originally posted on Facebook. "Scary but worth taking the time to clean the handle. All you'd have to do is rub your nose or touch your child's mouth. I never even considered this possibility. Children being exposed to just the powder or residue is a bad situation that can turn deadly."While a police officer in Ohio recently claimed ot have overdosed on fentanyl by simply touching the substance, some experts dispute the officer's claim.According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, opioids killed more than 33,000 people in 2015. Nearly half of the opioid overdose deaths involve a prescription opioid, according to the CDC.  1400

A New Jersey meat processing company has recalled nearly 43,000 pounds of ground beef, including packages sold at Walmart stores around the country, due to possible E. coli contamination.The United States Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service announced Saturday that Lakeside Refrigerated Services, a Swedesboro, New Jersey company, is recalling ground beef packages that were produced on June 1.The affected products were sold under the Thomas Foods International and Marketside Butcher labels and feature the establishment number EST. 46841.The recall notice said items were shipped to retail locations nationwide. Marketside Butcher products are sold at Walmart, according to package labels of the recalled products.The FSIS categorized the situation as a Class I recall, which it defines as "a health hazard situation where there is a reasonable probability that the use of the product will cause serious, adverse health consequences or death."The recall notice said the ground beef could be contaminated with E. coli O157:H7, which can cause dehydration, bloody diarrhea and abdominal cramps for 2–8 days, with an average of 3-4 days.
