NASHVILLE, Tennessee — Sometimes people suffering with opioid addiction turn to others for help. But sadly professionals listening may need help of their own. After a local addiction treatment consultant died from an overdose, people in his community are asking others who are battling the disease to come forward.Jeremiah Jackson died on Nov. 10. He worked as a treatment consultant at American Addiction Centers in Brentwood helping others with their addictions. People who knew him said he was loved, and called his death a shock. Chris Boutte said Jackson was dedicated to his work."I know that was helping him so much, when we get to help others that helps us so much," Boutte said.  The two first met when Boutte became an Alumni Coordinator and consultant. "We just met and he helped me out with a lot of early struggles. Just dealing with clients who had relapsed and calling me and needing help and people passing away," he said.Boutte spoke to Jackson last month and was surprised to hear of his passing."Jeremiah was just a great example like he is somebody I needed in my life and he was also laughing and joking around and he would freestyle rap and like sing and break dance. He could just...everybody loved the dude," he said.Jackson had been clean for more than four years and shared his heroin addiction story with WTVF TV station in Nashville in December 2017. While working at AAC, Jackson attended a separate recovery program. He was clean for more than four years but last weekend he died from an overdose.Cindy Spelta has worked at Cumberland Heights helping others with their drug and alcohol addictions for more than 15 years. She said people in her field may sometimes need even more help than those they are treating.She said she has been sober from cocaine usage and alcohol for 17 years and also participates in a recovery program. Spelta said Jackson's passing is devastating and is possibly an example of what professionals call "compassion fatigue." "You're dealing with people whose lives have been destroyed and whose families' lives have been destroyed and all that is coming at you every day," she said. She also said each day the tolerance level for people in recovery drops while the chances of a fatal relapse go up. (KGTV) - Marine Corps Air Station Miramar unleashed the potential of their renewable energy powered grid Tuesday to support San Diego during a heat wave."We've reached a point where we really need to take action to conserve," Jessica Packard, Communications Manager at SDG&E, said. The California Independent System Operator issued a Flex Alert spanning Sunday through Wednesday, which forced SDG&E to begin hour long rotating black outs across the county.Mick Wasco, Installation Energy Manager at MCAS Miramar, said they have a great relationship with SDG&E and heard over the weekend the power grid was at maximum capacity.Wasco said they took action, "although not entirely ready we did whatever we could to get our system online and help support as soon as possible."Wasco said the base has been working on a microgrid for more than a decade. It is powered by three sources: solar, landfill gas in partnership with Fortistar, and a power plant that uses natural gas and diesel, created in partnership with Schneider Electric and Black and Veatch.Wasco said the power plant works smarter, "these are not backup generators, these are generators with the best equipment possible to clean the emissions."The system succeeded Tuesday, eliminating six megawatts of usage from San Diego's grid. That saved about 2,000 homes from going dark."I don't know that everybody knows what we're capable of doing at Miramar and I think the goal is over the next couple years is to demonstrate that," Wasco said.The system has won multiple awards, including the 2019 Secretary of Defense Environmental Award for Sustainability and the Environmental Protection Agency's National Award for Energy in 2015."I think this is only the beginning and we can greatly improve our abilities in the coming years," Wasco said he wants to continue working with businesses and the community to utilize the system the most efficient and beneficial way possible.The system was initially needed to power the base during a disaster. The Navy calls for bases to be able to power themselves for two weeks. NBC News announced Wednesday that President Donald Trump would participate in a town hall-style event on Thursday — the day that he and Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden were scheduled to have a debate prior to Trump's COVID-19 diagnosis.NBC says the event, hosted by Today show anchor Savannah Guthrie, will take place in Miami with "a group of Florida voters."The network also said that it had received a statement from Dr. Clifford Lane, the Clinical Director at the National Institutes of Health, who said that both he and Dr. Anthony Fauci had cleared Trump to participate.The records reportedly reviewed by Lane and Fauci included a PCR COVID-19 test.
