SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego State University is celebrating yet another MVP athlete on one of sports' biggest stages.Wednesday, former SDSU baseball ace Stephen Strasburg was award the 2019 World Series MVP award after the Washington Nationals won Game 7 against the Houston Astros.As special an honor as that is, the award also means SDSU has two former players that have been named MVP in their respective sports — in the same season. In June, former Aztec star and then-Toronto Raptor Kawhi Leonard was named the NBA Finals MVP. The pair of postseason MVP awards in the same season are a first for the university. 625

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Standing outside his Vista headquarters on Wednesday, Republican Darrell Issa told reporters that he's comfortable he'll stay ahead of opponent Democrat Ammar Campa-Najjar in the run for a seat in California's 50th congressional district.“Statistically, it’s impossible for him to win with probably 60,000 votes left to come in,” he told reporters.Issa is a veteran politician looking to return to Congress after a two-year hiatus. He represented coastal North County's 49th district until 2018 but decided not to run for re-election as that district turned blue.“I've already spoken with Congressional leadership and I’m planning to go back to what will be a very unusual freshman orientation for someone with 18 years [of experience],” he added.ABC 10News spoke to Campa-Najjar on Tuesday after polls closed when early returns showed that he and Issa were still neck and neck. At the time he said, “Obviously, we know we've had a strong campaign that put people before politics and country before party and it is showing in this ruby red district. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — She's just 5-years-old, but Faith Perkins is now a published author.Faith and her mother Neka wrote the book 'Faith and Trinity the Unicorn', inspired by the loss of Trinity, Faith's older sister."My husband and I lost Trinity prematurely at 24 weeks in May 2012, of course, that was a devastation, it hurt us, but our faith prompted us to try again, and that's when Faith was born," said Neka. In the book, Faith travels the world with her sister Trinity, who is a unicorn. Faith explains how she and her mother wrote the book together, "What we would do is me and her would sit down, and she would tell me what it would be like if we were playing with each other and whatever I would tell her she would write down on a piece of paper."Neka and Faith hope the book will help others coping with loss. "I hope to inspire so many other individuals to talk about it, it's not easy, it's painful," said Neka.But Neka says writing the book with Faith has helped her heal and find some closure. "I can only imagine what life would have been like with her here, so this allows us to keep the hope alive," said Neka.For Faith, getting the book published is only the beginning.
