Junior Achievement of San Diego County hosted the Helix High class of seniors at their Finance Park. "These are all seniors getting ready to go into the real world, this is a program getting them real-world ready," said Valerie Hash, Capstone Manager for Junior Achievement. In the four-hour crash course, students become adults for the day, complete with a salary, family, education, and debt. So then they understand all the decisions their family has to make in order to make their life awesome and possible," said Hash. When taking out loans and making other purchases, students see real-world San Diego costs. According to San Diego Police, the woman’s body was found Saturday at an unspecified time near a hiking trail in Tecolote Canyon Park. Police believe the woman was in her mid to late 20s. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Police officers saved a parrot from a hot car in Sorrento Valley, as temperatures reached upwards of 120 degrees inside the vehicle.San Diego Police say someone noticed a Macaw parrot in a car in distress at a hotel parking lot in the 11000 block of Vista Sorrento Parkway. A San Diego Humane Society officer responded and tried to break the window, before calling SDPD for assistance.Police broke the window and removed the parrot and rushed it to a veterinarian.A police officer told ABC 10News that the temperature in the car was at least 120 degrees. The bird only had a cup of liquid in a Big Gulp cup and no food.It's a misdemeanor to leave an animal unattended in a hot vehicle.San Diego Humane Society said the parrot is doing okay and the owners have been reached to reclaim the bird."Cars get hot very fast, so we advise never to leave an animal unattended in car, especially when it is warm outside. Even with the windows open, a parked car can quickly become a furnace. If the temperature outside is 80 degrees, the temperature inside your car can quickly climb to 120 degrees. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Police are searching for the suspects in a deadly Mountain View park shooting that took place during a soccer game. Police were called to the Willie Henderson Sports Complex on the 1000 block of South 45th Street just after 9:30 p.m. Wednesday after receiving reports of a shooting. When they arrived, police found a man who had been shot. First responders tried to save the man, but he died at the scene. Investigators say little is known about the circumstances leading up to the man’s death. According to police, the park was crowded at the time of the shooting with soccer players and spectators. “It is not believed the victim was involved with the soccer game that was underway,” police added. Although police haven’t identified the victim, family members who arrived on scene say the victim is 31-year-old Armando Torres Jr. Family members say he was the father of a 2-year-old girl. The suspects are only described as three Hispanic men in their teens to twenties wearing hooded sweatshirts.
