According to the department, the nurse has been isolated at home. No other information was provided about the individual's condition at this time. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A Point Loma woman says while her family was sleeping, someone was in her home stealing from them.Tucked away on a hill along scenic La Crescentia Drivel, the serenity was interrupted when Teresa Cesear and her husband got up around 5 a.m. Wednesday."Panic, absolutely panic," said Cesear.Cesear says her purse and laptop bag — computer inside — were not where she had placed them on her kitchen stool.Reality quickly set in. Those items didn't disappear on their own. "My entire personal and work life were in those two bags. Then came the fear and sense of violation," said Cesear.The violation happened quietly as she, her husband, and her grown son slept."The police said that they must have looked in the window. There's a nightlight in the kitchen, so they see my laptop and purse and somehow got this locked kitchen door open," said Cesear.Among the missing items were credit cards, keys and one special key: The original key to her 1973 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia."Really sad ... The state sent the ballots to 22 million voters about a month before the election because of the Coronavirus pandemic, according to the Associated Press. In San Diego County, the Registrar of Voters says it got a record of more than 1.1 million early votes, about 60 percent of the electorate. State Senate President Pro Tem Toni Atkins, D-San Diego, says mailing ballots to all registered California voters should become standard. “As with everything, there is always room for improvement, and we will work with elections officials to learn and assess this system moving forward," she said. "But one outcome is already crystal clear – providing every voter with the ability to choose whether to vote from home or in person should be California’s new normal.”Still, there are questions. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A San Diego doctor is leading a new national study that tests drugs designed to help coronavirus patients.If you tested positive for coronavirus this summer, there was nowhere for you to go unless you were sick enough to end up in a hospital bed. The ACTIV-2 Study hopes to keep that from happening."So this trial is specifically designed to find those agents to keep people from going to the hospital," Dr. Davey Smith said. He is the Chief of Infectious Diseases at UC San Diego and the Protocol Chair for the study."If your symptoms started within ten days and your test is positive in seven days, then you are eligible for the study," Dr. Smith said.UCSD had their first patient mid-September. There are two test sites, one at UCSD and another at Kaiser's Zion Medical Center. Dr. Smith hopes to expand to six test sites."We want to test eight drugs over the next year, maybe more. There are lots of pharmaceutical companies making better and better drugs," he said the goal is to keep people healthy."If I were to get sick and I would have something to prevent me from getting sicker that's number 1. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A new camera system along the west coast helps firefighters pinpoint wildfires faster. ALERTWildfire has officially launched the first 70 cameras in Southern California including 15 here in San Diego. There are 160 total cameras along the west coast in Washington, Oregon, Nevada and California. UCSD Geosciences Professor Neal Driscoll has worked for two years as the co-developer for ALERTWildfire. Driscoll tells 10News, "they form this network, we can triangulate and we can actually locate the fire so we can give this ignition point to the first responders". Driscoll hopes to see ten times the number of cameras installed in five years. For him, it's more than just new technology, Driscoll says it's a faster way to protect buildings and people caught in wildfires, "in the old days wed have to send out engines or aircraft".
