TOLEDO, Ohio — On Monday, federal authorities announced the arrests of a man and a woman in connection to plotting two separate attacks in Ohio in concert with undercover agents.In a press conference, federal authorities said a man from Holland, Ohio was arrested after planning an attack on a Toledo-area synagogue. In a separate case, agents also arrested a Toledo woman after she purchased black powder and screws that authorities believe were going to be used to make a bomb as part of a terrorist attack.Arrest 1: Joseph DamonJoseph Damon, 21, was arrested Friday and charged with one count of attempting to provide support for ISIS, according to the Department of Justice.Earlier this year, Damon was in communication with undercover agents after he received attention from federal agents for posting photographs of knives and firearms on his social media accounts, as well as a photograph distributed by the media wing of ISIS.In conversations with undercover agents, Damon said he would be willing to participate in violent attacks, say federal officials.On Oct. 30., following the mass shooting at the Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh, Damon allegedly told an agent, "I admire what the guy did with the shooting actually. I can see myself carrying out this type of operation inshallah. They wouldn't even expect [an attack] in my area."In December, Damon continued to talk with authorities about carrying out attacks on synagogues.Damon met with an undercover agent on Dec. 6, writing down the name and address of the synagogue where the attack was to occur. Later that day, the agent told Damon he purchased rifles for the attack. The two met on Dec. 7 at a location where Damon took a black duffel bag carrying two rifles. He was then arrested, according to federal authorities.Arrest 2: Elizabeth LecronElizabeth Lecron, 23, was charged with one count of transportation of explosive material for the purpose of harming others and property.Lecron received the attention of federal agents earlier this year after she frequently posted photographs and comments on social media glorifying mass murderers, including the Columbine shooters and convicted church killer Dylann Roof.After her social media account was deleted, Lecron created a new one under the profile  "CharlestonChurchMiracle," where she would post photos and comments about mass casualty attacks.In August, undercover FBI agents talked with Lecron, who told them she and an associate created a plan to commit an "upscale mass murder" at a Toledo bar.In September, Lecron discussed with undercover agents a pipeline bombing and mentioned a good place to carry out an attack was where she worked because she believed they were polluting the river behind the plant.By December, she talked with an agent and agreed to buy black powder needed to make a bomb, according to information published by feds in a news release.Federal authorities said Lecron met with a source at a retail sporting good stores on Dec. 8, where she entered the store by herself and bought two pounds of Hodgson Triple Seven Muzzleloading Propellant. She went to a larger retailer in the Toledo area where she purchased 655 screws of various sizes, some as large as 3 inches, according to federal authorities. 3334

TIJUANA, Mexico (KGTV) - A witness to a crash on the Tijuana side of the U.S.-Mexico border is describing the chaos as a truck plowed into vehicles and vendors. “I heard boom, boom, boom,” said the witness, who wishes to remain anonymous. He had just finished visiting his mother in Mexico and was waiting in traffic at the San Ysidro Port of Entry to return to the United States when he saw the black truck coming up behind him. The truck driver hit three vehicles and stopped, the witness said. Other witnesses surrounded the black truck and popped the tires, the witness told 10News. “His wife turned to him and said ‘Go, go, go,'” the driver said. People who appeared to be homeless stopped to grab food that was scattered on the ground after the crash. The witness pulled over to help a woman who was struck by a taco cart, but he slipped in salsa and was injured. He saw a man grabbing a peso bill from his front seat and returned to his vehicle. Mexican police and firefighters closed down traffic for about 20 minutes. When the situation was cleared, northbound traffic into the U.S. was consolidated into two lanes, the witness said. 1333

There’s a major love affair in the U.S. between humans and their furry friends. A playful puppy named Clifford has been Rachael Greenberg’s saving grace during the pandemic. She says the past nine months have brought a lot of anxiety into her life, but Clifford’s relentless support helped her through the first panic attack she ever experienced.“He woke up, and just like kind of climbed on my lap and he tried to put my feet up. And I don’t think he knew exactly what was going on, but he just like seemed to respond to it,” Greenberg said.Greenberg isn’t alone in her feelings.There’s been a rise in depression and anxiety in many people’s lives since the start of the pandemic.It’s Samara’s job as a therapy dog to offer people love and support.“She went and met one of the students who was quarantined due to COVID-19 who was feeling a little down and lonely,” human-animal connection expert Philip Tedeschi said.Tedeschi is a professor in the graduate school of social work at the University of Denver, and a human-animal connection expert with the dog-sitting website Rover.“We’re looking at human-animal connection through the lens of how people and animals interact and what some of the health-promoting benefits of that are,” Tedeschi said.According to a recent survey done by Rover, 92% of dog owners say that their dog has played a role in positively impacting their mental health since the pandemic began. Tedeschi says history proves dogs have become some our most important, reliable and trusting friends.“Some people would argue that we may have been co-evolving with dogs for 20-to-60-thousand years or more, and what has occurred as a result as that is dogs have become especially attune to people, and people have become specially attune to dogs.”Tedeschi says we can measure how our interactions with companion animals influence our health. In fact, he says humans can tend to match their own breathing and heartbeat to the resting rate of an adult dog which helps us to calm down.“They understand our language, they know the nuances of the tone of voice we use, in many cases they’ll recognize something as small as a millimeter of movement in the human face that reflects a change in our emotion,” Tedeschi said.There’s a reason dogs are used to comfort veterans with PTSD and patients in hospitals. They offer endless love and keep us present in the moment.“It turns out that social support doesn’t only have to be human beings that support us," Tedeschi said. "That in many cases our non-human animal relationships are really effective support systems for us.”It was Greenberg’s time in a hospital that inspired her to study social work and animal therapy.“I have an auto-immune disease that I was diagnosed with at nine years old," Greenberg said. "We had a dog named Teddy and specifically got him when I was diagnosed.”Now she’s training Clifford to be a therapy dog. He’s brought happiness to her grandmother who lives with dementia. TIJUANA, Mexico. (KGTV) -- Migrants in Tijuana took shelter from the rain Thursday beneath tarps and in tents as shelters remained overcrowded. Photos taken by 10News show makeshift camps where migrants hid in tents while others shielded themselves with tarps as rain drenched the area. Many of the migrants waiting to claim asylum say they’ve lost hope following a clash Sunday in which hundreds of migrants rushed the border in a show of force.
