BEIJING, March 12 (Xinhua) -- Overseas Chinese say they are pleased with the economic stimulus measures discussed at China's two top political conferences and think the proposals will provide a good road map for the future.     The two conferences, known as the "two sessions," are the Second Session of the 11th National People's Congress (NPC), which was to end Friday, and the Second Session of the 11th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), which closed Thursday.     Speaking of Premier Wen Jiabao's work report to the NPC, overseas Chinese in the Czech Republic said they are confident for the future development of their homeland.     Ni Jian, chairman of the Czech Council for the Promotion of Peaceful Reunification of China, together with others, said they were pleased as Wen said in his speech that China "must not slacken efforts" to promote its exports amid a sharp decline in external demand.     Wen said "We will continue to diversify our export markets and compete on quality, enhance traditional export markets, and energetically open up new markets," adding the government is to take a series of measures to relieve the difficulties of exporters.     Ni said the proposed measures lighten the way for Chinese business people abroad.     Hu Zhiheng, a Wenzhou businessman in Italy, said he was most impressed by Wen's remarks that the government will make efforts to "ensure steady growth in foreign trade."     As a matter of fact, China had already adopted a series of measures before the two sessions that included such things as raising export rebates, loosening credit, and abolishing or cutting customs tariffs, he said.     The overseas Chinese were mostly concerned with the economic policies released at the two sessions and how the government will be responding to the global financial crisis in order to maintain stable development, Luo Yuhong, chief editor of Capital News in Belgium, told Xinhua.     Lu Chengrui, head of the U.S. Shandong Association, said he holds high expectations for the two conferences, and hopes all of the plans can be implemented.     Zhan Aixia, head of the New York Beijing Association, said after reading the government work report that she expects her country to develop a stronger economy and intensify cultural exchanges with the United States.     In addition, Chinese students in Japan, Belgium and Italy also kept a close eye on China's development.     In Belgium, student Chen Fang said she was especially interested in issues concerning employment as she planned a career in China after graduation.     Wu Changbo and Chen Yao in Italy described Wen's work report as China's commitment to the world amid the economic crisis.     In the face of great challenges and difficulties, China still pledged an 8 percent economic growth, which they said has showcased the confidence of the country.     Wen's statement that put a priority on the employment of college students and the advancing of education were inspiring, they said, adding that they wish they could use the knowledge they have acquired abroad to serve the motherland after graduation.     Li Guangzhe, chief of the Chinese students' association in Japan, told Xinhua that the group cares most China's ongoing process of building a harmonious society and the role it plays in the world platform.     Li said he found the answers to those questions in the premier's work report.     The confidence delivered in Wen's report will give impetus to the development of the whole world and demonstrates that China is a responsible global power, he added.

PATTAYA, Thailand, April 11 (Xinhua) -- China, Japan and South Korea agreed here Saturday to continue pushing forward the Six-Party talks aimed at realizing denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.     The consensus was reached when Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao, Japanese Prime Minister Taro Aso and South Korean President Lee Myung-bak met here to discuss the recent rocket launch by the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.     Discussions about related issues should be conducive to maintaining the progress of the Six-Party talks, peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula and in Northeast Asia, Wen said. BEIJING, April 13 (Xinhua) -- House prices in 70 major Chinese cities fell 1.3 percent in March from a year earlier, the National Bureau of Statistics said Monday.     The month-on-month figure, however, rose 0.2 percent in March.     In the first quarter, the area of commercial houses sold rose 8.2 percent to 113 million square meters and sales jumped 23.1 percent to 505.9 billion yuan (74 billion U.S. dollars), the NBS said.     Prices of new houses fell 1.9 percent year-on-year last month but rose 0.1 percent from February. Prices for second-hand houses rose 0.3 percent month-on-month despite of a decline of 0.4 percent from a year earlier.     Analysts warned it was still too early to say the property market had revived, as sales were mainly driven by surging credit and by stimulus policies, such as tax cuts. Other indicators, such as land purchases by developers, had shown no signs of recovery.     Floor areas of newly built houses in the first quarter tumbled 16.2 percent to 201 million sq m. The decline was 1.4 percentage points more than the January-February figure.     Land purchased for homebuilding fell more than 40 percent in the first quarter to 47.42 million sq m, and the actual area developed shrank 11.3 percent to 52.2 million sq m.     China Vanke, the country's biggest property developer by market value, reported on April 11 its first-quarter sales rose 21 percent to 12.22 billion yuan. Those of Poly Real Estate Group, the second-biggest, doubled to 6.48 billion yuan.

BEIJING, March 6 (Xinhua)-- China has named its first home-made jumbo jet C919, which will take off in around eight years, its chief designer Wu Guanghui said on Friday.     "C represents China as well as COMAC, the abbreviation for Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China, Ltd," said Wu, who is also the deputy general manager of COMAC, the manufacturer of C919.     "The name also reflects our determination to compete in the international market for jumbo jet. C919 comes after Airbus and Boeing, so you will have ABC in the aviation industry," said Wu, apolitical advisor who is here attending the annual session of 11thNational Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.     The first 9 in the name implies forever in Chinese culture, while 19 means the first jumbo jet produced by China will have 190seats, he said.     Wu said that his company will choose suppliers of engines, airborne equipment, and materials through international bidding, and will encourage foreign suppliers to enter into partnership with Chinese manufacturers.     "We will choose foreign-manufactured products like engines at the beginning phase, but we will also independently do the research and manufacturing work at the same time," noted Wu.     The Shanghai-based COMAC was set up in May, 2008 after approval in early 2007 by the State Council, China's Cabinet. It has a registered capital of 19 billion yuan (2.78 billion U.S. dollars), with the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission as the biggest shareholder.     Wu said the jumbo jet project now involves 47 institutions from China and abroad, and that the preliminary general technical design plan and commercial feasibility study have been completed.

BEIJING, March 29 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Vice Premier Wang Qishan has called on the international community to "act together" at the upcoming London summit to get through the global financial crisis, in an article published by the British newspaper The Times on Friday.     In the article entitled "G20 must look beyond the needs of the top 20," with a subtitle "China believes the developing world should have a stronger say in how the international financial system is run," Wang urged all heads of states to be present at the G20 London summit to "act together to get through the time of hardship."     After the financial crisis broke out, China was quick to put in place a decisive plan to boost domestic demand, advance economic restructuring and improve people's well-being, which have started to produce results, said the vice premier.     However, the Chinese economy still faces severe challenges, including to meet the demanding goal of maintaining economic growth by boosting domestic demand, ensuring employment and readjusting the economic structure. China also has to cope with shrinking external demand caused by the global economic downturn and trade and investment protectionism, Wang said.     "China will continue to take forceful measures to maintain steady and fast economic growth and contribute its share to an early recovery of the world economy," Wang pledged in the article.     Since the G20 summit in Washington last year, said Wang, China has provided a lot of assistance and support through a variety of means to a number of countries and regions, and played a part in the creation of significant Asian and global economic and trade initiatives.     The Chinese leader stressed the significance of the international community to enhance coordination and cooperation to overcome the current difficulties.     "Efforts should be made to expand trade and investment cooperation to bolster economic growth, step up cooperation among small and medium-size businesses to ensure employment stability, and strengthen cooperation in energy conservation and emissions' reduction, environmental protection and development of new energy technologies to nurture growth points for the world economy," Wang suggested.     He firmly rejected trade and investment protectionism of all kind. "The international community should recognize that the trend towards economic globalization is irreversible and should take credible steps to reject all forms of trade and investment protectionism," he said.     Wang also called on the international financial system to be reformed, "with the focus on readjusting the governance structure of international financial institutions and increasing the representation and voice of developing countries." He asked the London summit to set a clear goal, timetable and road-map for such reform.     To prevent similar crisis from happening again, Wang, also a Chinese economic expert, suggested prudent regulation of all financial markets and institutions involved to be tightened and regulatory coordination and cooperation at both the regional and international levels to be increased.     On the hot topic of increasing financial resources for the International Monetary Fund (IMF), he said China supports the increase as far as the fund is safe and reasonable returns can be ensured.     "China is ready to play an active part in exploring ways to raise resources and will contribute to this effort within its ability," Wang said. He asked the IMF to mobilize resources through the "quota-based" system as well as voluntary contributions, striking a balance between the rights and obligations of the contributing countries.     As a return, said the Chinese vice premier, the IMF must enhance capacity-building, reform governance structure and ensure that the resources play a significant role in easing the international financial crisis and countering the global economic downturn. China inclines to see the resources mainly to be used to help developing countries which are seriously hit by the crisis, Wang said.     Leaders of the world's 20 largest economies will meet in London on Thursday to discuss, among other things, a coordinated response to the current global financial crisis
