SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A father whose infant daughter was found dead outside a Los Angeles-area mortuary surrendered Monday at the U.S.-Mexico border. Alexander Echevarria, 22, of Sacramento, turned himself in to authorities at the San Ysidro Port of Entry with his attorney by his side. Echevarria was considered a person of interest in the death of 8-month-old Alexia Rose. The baby’s body was found near a trash container outside a funeral home in Bellflower last week. The infant was partially covered by a blanket and left in a car seat. Police believe the girl died in Sacramento. Her death was not due to natural causes, the Sacramento County Sheriff said Monday. Family members had reported Echeverria missing on Memorial Day. They said he suffers from depression and had made suicidal statements. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A driver lost control of their vehicle Tuesday night, crashing into a power pole while trying to avoid other cars Tuesday night.The crash, which happened around 8 p.m., caused an explosion and sent power lines arching. Several nearby bushes caught fire because of the explosion but firefighters were able to put them out quickly.The incident happened near South 43rd and Division Streets.   428

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A boy found wandering in the parking lot of a Rolando church Monday was reunited with his mother.The pastor of the Fellowship of Love Divine church found the boy around 2:30 p.m. in the parking lot on Aragon Dr., near the Kroc Center.San Diego Police got a call about 30 minutes later from a mother reporting her child missing from a home about a block away."He was clean. Had on a pair of Pampers, and a pair of socks. And he stuffed had a toy car and he seemed to be really happy, you know," said Pastor James Dawson.The boy was returned to his mother at their apartment nearby. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A 20-year-old woman claims she was sexually assaulted for about 20 minutes during a Lyft ride in June.She's identified as Jane Roe in a civil lawsuit filed by Estey & Bomberger, LLP on Thursday. Roe tells 10News she has a disability and is unable to drive, she relies on Lyft to get to and from UCSD and around San Diego on a daily basis."I would use Lyft every day for about a year and a half," said Roe. "I would use it about 2-3 times a day."In June, Roe says she was using Lyft to travel from her father's home to her mother's, a 32-minute ride on the Interstate 5 that would forever change her life.RELATED: San Diego women reported in Uber, Lyft sex assault cases"He just asked me inappropriate questions," Roe said, referring to her driver. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A 4.9-magnitude earthquake and several smaller shakeups recorded in Imperial County on Wednesday were reportedly felt in San Diego County.The swarm of earthquakes was centered around the Westmorland area. While many of the smaller quakes were recorded between 2.5- and 3.7-magnitude, about 80 earthquakes measuring at least 2.5-magnitude were recorded between 4 p.m. and 7:15 p.m.The largest earthquake as of 5:45 p.m. registered at 4.9-magnitude, according to the agency's latest earthquakes map.Seismologist Dr. Lucy Jones tweeted that Wednesday's series of earthquakes was one of the largest swarms Imperial Valley has seen, adding that the area is historically active in swarms."The swarm happening now south of the Salton Sea, near Westmoreland is over 30 km south of the end of the San Andreas," Jones tweeted. "It is in the Brawley seismic zone, a common source of swarms. So far largest is M4.4. Too far from the San Andreas to change the probability of a quake on it." 1004
