A man in Florida called police while Collier County Sheriff's deputies were chasing him Tuesday morning.The sheriff's office report said it all started because the suspect acted suspiciously. The sheriff's deputy went up to the car and smelled a smell similar to marijuana.The deputy spotted a baggie that contained a green leafy substance. The suspect then grabbed the bag, put it in his mouth, and sped away."I need help, please," said Aric Frydberg, the man who was arrested after the 7-mile pursuit on U.S. 41. "There's a police officer chasing me," he added.Fort Myers-based WFTX obtained the 911 call. The operator tried numerous times to get Frydberg to pull over.But during the phone call, Frydberg tried to get the operator to make some calls on his behalf. The first set of calls was to his parents."Call my mom, call my mom," said Frydberg. "Please call my mom," he added while on the phone.Then he took it a step further and wanted to speak to the president.  "Donald Trump is a close friend of mine," said Frydberg. "We made a deal," he added while he was trying to convince the operator.Frydberg then changed gears and tried a different strategy.  "My mom called me and said she was in a car accident in Homestead," he said. "My flesh and blood was in a car accident and I have to stop and help you," Frydberg added.Deputies eventually got him off the road and phone.The report goes on to say the deputies searched the car and found glass pipes with burnt leafy residue on them. They later field tested the particles and it tested positive for marijuana.Frydberg is being charged with tampering with evidence, resisting an officer, and two counts of battery of an officer. 1744

Aldon Smith, who was the NFC's Defensive Player of the Year, has a warrant out for his arrest on Monday after a possible domestic incident from the weekend, the San Francisco Chronicle reported. Smith is wanted on charges of misdemeanor domestic violence, assault with force likely to cause great bodily injury, false imprisonment and vandalism, the Chronicle reported. Earlier the in the day, the Oakland Raiders released Smith. The incident in question was reportedly Saturday evening, and the victim identified Smith as the suspect. TMZ reported that Smith checked into a rehab facility on Monday. Smith has had frequent encounters with law enforcement. The Chronicle reported that Smith has three previous DUI arrests. He was also arrested in June 2012 when illegal weapons were found at his house during a party where two people were shot, and he was stabbed.  908

Allstate Insurance announced on Wednesday that they are planning to lay off 3,800 employees.In a press release, the company said the layoffs were part of a restructuring plan to lower costs.Allstate will make the cuts in the sales, claims, and support departments."Implementing this plan is difficult as we still deal with the impact of the pandemic but necessary to provide customers the best value," said Tom Wilson, Chair, President, and CEO of Allstate in the press release. "We have expanded transition support for impacted employees including prioritized internal hiring, extended medical coverage, expanded retraining support, and help in employment searches."According to the Wall Street Journal, the layoffs cover approximately 8% of Allstate's 46,000 employees.Roughly 1,000 of those laid off are linked to the pandemic-related refunds the insurance company is giving to customers, WSJ reported.Back in April, Wilson told CNBC that the pandemic has resulted in people driving less, and as a result, there are fewer accidents and claims.Allstate reduced policy-holders' bills back in March, like many insurers. 1127

After President Donald Trump blasted violence that has transpired at Black Lives Matter protests, claiming that Democrats are encouraging riots, Trump was asked to address a violent encounter involving a supporter of his last week.Kyle Rittenhouse, 17, was charged on Wednesday for the deaths of two demonstrators in Kenosha, Wisconsin, and for wounding a third protester. He was trying to get away from them, I guess… and he fell & then they very violently attacked him.Trump added, “He probably would've been killed."Trump’s statement was in line with claims made by Rittenhouse’s attorney, who said that the shootings were in self-defense.Rittenhouse "has suddenly found himself at the center of a national firestorm and charged with murder after defending himself from a relentless, vicious and potentially deadly mob attack in Kenosha, Wisconsin,” attorney John Pierce of Pierce Bainbridge said in a statement last week.The exact circumstances that led to last week’s shooting are unclear, but several videos posted on social media have given investigators some insight.One of the videos appeared to show Rittenhouse scuffling with demonstrators before firing several shots. He is then seen walking away from the incident with the gun dangling from his chest while holding his hands up.While officers initially did not confront Rittenhouse at the scene late Tuesday, he was arrested the next day.Trump is scheduled to visit Kenosha on Tuesday, the site of ongoing unrest following the shooting of Jacob Blake. Blake was shot seven times in the back by Officer Rusten Sheskey.
