LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — Louisville police officers who fatally shot Breonna Taylor while serving a warrant were told she should be home alone. Officers were told the main target of a large-scale narcotics investigation was elsewhere.Taylor was shot eight times after officers used a battering ram to knock down her door on March 13. Sgt. Johnathan Mattingly spoke to internal investigators about two weeks after the raid. News outlets obtained the interview with Mattingly on Thursday. Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer announced that a citywide curfew will be extended through the weekend as unrest in the city reignited on Wednesday.The demonstrations were sparked by a grand jury announcement that charges would not be filed against the two officers who shot and killed Breonna Taylor during a March raid.The curfew will continue from 9 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. every day through Monday. The curfew does not apply to people commuting to work, house of worship for services or seeking medical attention for themselves or others.The city has also closed some of the city’s downtown government facilities through Monday morning.On Wednesday, 127 arrests were tied to demonstrations in the city. Amid the unrest, two Louisville Metro Police officers were wounded by a gunman. A suspect, Larynzo Johnson, was arrested on Wednesday. (WAVE) — A Louisville man, arrested just outside of Chicago, is accused of killing a woman and putting her body parts in a suitcase to visit his family several hours away, according to multiple media outlets.The Louisville Metro Police Department says they were able to track the homicide back to a home in their area, after getting information from investigators in Illinois.Police in Markham, Illinois, a Chicago suburb close to the Indiana border, said the suspect's family picked up the man from a Greyhound bus stop in Chicago recently. "He brought with him luggage two, three bags," Markham Police Chief Terry White told WBBM. Chief White says the family claims they did not know what was in his bags, but became suspicious when the man never unpacked and allegedly kept guarding the bags. Police say the family reported a foul odor was leaking from a suitcase. Police were called when a family member opened the suitcase while the man was out and found the body parts, according to WBBM. "A human body part was discovered. They immediately back away and called police," Chief White said.Officials say the suspect has been arrested. The man's identity or any charges have not been released at this time.LMPD, Markham police and the FBI are investigating the case. The family is cooperating with investigators. 1339
