OCEANSIDE, Calif. (KGTV) - A fire that broke out Friday afternoon in Oceanside burned one victim, fire officials said.The flames were reported about 3 p.m. in the 600 block of Sleeping Indian Road. Oceanside Fire reported the "main fire has been knocked down" by 4:15 p.m., however crews expected to be on scene for several more hours.One person was burned and is being taken to the hospital, according to Oceanside Fire.Officials said the fire started in an area of RVs and spread to mulch. A neighbor told 10News the mobile homes belong to people who work in the area. Hazmat crews were called in after firefighters learned of previous drug activity on the property. There was also a concern about fuel and propane on site. However, Hazmat crews did not find any hazardous materials present. Five brush rigs and four engines were sent to the scene, fire officials said. (KGTV) — Heavy rains and slick roads may have contributed to a fatal motorcycle crash in Oceanside.A 22-year-old man riding a Yamaha motorcycle on northbound Interstate 5 just south of State Route 76 crashed just after 10 p.m. Friday, just as lightning, thunder, and heavy rain pounded the area, according to California Highway Patrol.The man was transitioning from NB I-5 to the SR-76 off-ramp when he veered off the side of the road and up a dirt embankment. OCEANSIDE, Calif. (KGTV) - Oceanside could be getting a new active sports complex, complete with a man-made wave pool, perfect for surfing competitions, according to Mayor Peter Weiss. The idea is in it's beginning stages, no formal paperwork has been submitted to the city clerk. 10News spoke with her Wednesday and she said the developer, Zephyer Partners, has been talking with council members.Neighbors have already been hearing construction equipment hacking away at the remains of the drive-in that operated before the swap meet took over."When I was driving by and I saw you standing here I thought I need to find out because she probably knows more than I do," Neighbor Liz Lewellen said.She said the neighborhood has been wondering what could happen to the lot. Mayor Weiss told 10News the developer gave him this pitch, "n active sports complex, there would be a BMX track, a climbing wall, things like that, it would also have a hotel and then sports oriented retail." He also described a wave pool that mimics the Kelly Slater Surf Ranch in Fresno. The facility is state-of-the-art and perfect for competitions.The idea sparking interest in the community. Lewellen was shocked and excited when she heard."I love the idea that it's commercial coming in because this area desperately needs more restaurants more things," Lewellen said. OMAHA, Nebraska — Omaha resident and Sutton native Elliott Bottorf got a surprise while on a Saturday morning drive in North Central Nebraska. Bottorf and his wife passed a longhorn steer riding in the passenger's side of a sedan on Highway 20 near O'Neill.  A cattle guard replaced the passenger's door and part of the roof was taken off the vehicle for the steer's head to stick out.As of Wednesday, the video, which he posted to Facebook on March 17, had been viewed more than 3.8 million times and shared more than 80,000 times.Some have commented wondering if the steer was real or fake."At first, I wasn't sure if it was alive or not but after reviewing the video you could clearly see that it had some snot coming out of its nose," Bottorf explained. "You could see its eyes blinking."The driver and the steer were on their way to O'Neill to be in the St. Patrick's Day Parade. 922

Oklahoma legislators approved a measure including a ,100 pay raise for teachers, but the state teacher's union says the bill doesn't go far enough and plans to walk out Monday.House Bill 1010XX, which was described as "the largest teacher pay raise in the history of the state" passed both the state House and Senate this week.
