ATTICA, NY -- She has a vision for design and spent the last two months renovating her own camper-turned-tiny home called Camp Hygge. Her name is Lauren Nelson and she's 11 years old."I love this, I love renovating. I was very motivated with this camper, I really wanted a place where I could hang out . . . like my own house," said Nelson. BALDWIN, La. — New details are emerging as law enforcement investigates the death of a 15-year-old boy who died under suspicious circumstances in Louisiana.KATC obtained police reports from Oct. 30 when the teen, Quawan “Bobby” Charles, was reported missing from his home in Baldwin and was found dead four days later near Loreauville.Records show that Charles’ mother contacted the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office around 8:10 p.m. on Oct. 30 to report that her son was missing. The mother stated that her son did not come home and had on a West St. Mary High School jacket.SMPSO then dispatched an officer with the Baldwin Police Department to the 600 block of MLK Street in Baldwin.At 8:45 p.m., BPD spoke with Charles’ father and mother who said that he was last seen at around 4 p.m. Police then entered Charles’ name into the National Crime Information Center, which is a nationwide database used by law enforcement to locate missing persons, as a missing juvenile.According to a police report from BPD, Charles’ mother said that she was not present at the time that he went missing because he was staying with his father because the two did not live together. Charles had only recently been allowed to stay with his father for the two weeks prior to his disappearance.Charles’ father told police that he went to the store around 4 p.m., but after returning a few minutes later, he attempted to knock on the door to Charles’ room several times without a response.The father told police that he then used a tool to gain entry into the room and discovered the teen was missing.Both parents told police that Charles had not been a problem at home but had been placed on a curfew by the 16th Judicial District Court because of disciplinary problems at school.The parents told police that Charles did not have any friends and had never left home before without them knowing about it.The police state in the report that there was a football game taking place at West St. Mary High School in Baldwin as well as an event called Boo on the Bayou in Franklin. Charles’ father told police he would begin searching those areas. However, he later contacted SMPSO and said he was not able to locate Charles’ at either location.This is when police entered Charles’ name into the NCIC database as a missing juvenile while being on the lookout for him.Charles’ mother then told police that she would be heading back to her home in Youngsville to check and see if he had returned there.Charles was found dead four days later on Nov. 4 in a rural area off Ed Broussard Road near Loreauville. Since then, some family members are claiming Charles was murdered, and believe police ignored their initial cries for help.The family tells KATC they were told by investigators that Bobby drowned, but that they don't believe that. They cite a graphic photo of his body circulating online.Family members also say Charles left his home with a 17-year-old friend and the teen's mother without permission.Several dozen people, including Bobby's family, people from the community, and an organization called Stand Black, gathered on the courthouse steps Wednesday evening. They're demanding a thorough investigation of the case.The Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office is handling the investigation. Deputies have not said if Charles was killed. IPSO says it's being investigated under suspicious circumstances. As students from across the country prepare to return to classrooms in the middle of a pandemic, a nationwide school nurse shortage has health experts concerned about how well some districts will be able to handle potential outbreaks of COVID-19.Linda Mendonca oversees the National Association of School Nurses. As she thinks about empty classrooms beginning to fill back up with students, she can’t help but be filled with anxiety.“We don’t have a road map for all of this, so when you don’t have a road map, that makes it a little more challenging,” she said.School nurses will be playing a critical role in the reopening of schools. They’re being asked to monitor kids for COVID-19 symptoms and even keep track of absentee rates to spot potential trends. In some cases, school nurses will help local health departments with contact tracing if an outbreak occurs at a school.But a nationwide nurse school nurse shortage puts a lot of that in jeopardy.“In the midst of a pandemic, there should be a nurse in every school, and there’s not,” Mendonca explained.About 25 percent of the nation’s schools will start this year without a school nurse. It’s a startling statistic that has public health officials particularly concerned, in the middle of a pandemic.The average school nurse makes about ,000. There’s also a simple funding problem. School nurses are often the first to get cut when districts need to eliminate positions. The need is so great, that the National Association of School Nurses is advocating for 10,000 new nurses in the next federal stimulus bill.“The school nurse is so important that there needs to be a full-time nurse in school every day at all schools,” said Jenny Gormley, who’s served as a school nurse in Massachusetts for years.Gormley’s hope is that in the face of this pandemic, districts across the country will find ways to support nurses with both PPE and funding.“We all want students back learning, but we want to do it safely,” she added.As parents attempt to send their kids safely back to school, school nurses could be one of the best prescriptions for success. 2114

Ashland University in Ohio is offering a new ,000 scholarship to talented Fortnite players."Fortnite Battle Royale" will be offered in fall 2018 as part of the university's esports program.The AU esports team will be the first known program in the country to add the game to its official offerings. Head Coach Josh Buchanan is excited to add the popular game to the college's gaming titles."Fortnite appeals to both the core and casual gaming audience," said Buchanan in a news release. "We're excited to provide this platform for gamers who want to showcase their skills in a more competitive space."The team at Ashland will arrange four-player teams that practice regularly and compete together.Scholarships will be awarded to players based on skill level and academic requirements.The university plans to conduct open tryouts for Fortnite players next school year. Ashland already offers League of Legends, Overwatch, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Rocket League in their esports program. The coach hopes eventually other schools will for programs to set up collegiate leagues for the team to compete against.  1184
