Ten years ago, in downtown Chicago, the humble beginnings of a love story began to flourish in one of the city’s most acclaimed high-end restaurants, Alinea.One of the kitchen’s chefs, Matt Chasseur, had taken a liking to one of the dining room’s hostesses, Ashley Fees, and before long, the two had started dating.In 2018, the couple got married. At Alinea, Matt and Ashley were accustomed to a high-energy experience full of top-flight chefs who enacted strict parameters. It helped get the restaurant the acclaimed success it enjoys today, but Matt and Ashley also noticed it burnt-out employees, which is why they gave their employees at Peche more freedom to enjoy their lives outside the kitchen.In turn, the couple has seen loyalty from its crew.“In Chicago, you were in a kitchen with 25 other cooks and everyone had specific tasks,” said Matt. “You walk into this [current] environment and you’re like, ‘I don’t know how all this will get done,’ and then you look around and everyone is willing to jump in and dive in.”The moves have allowed Matt and Ashley to consolidate staff, cut costs, and try to give back in any way their restaurant can.“We’re going to take our best shot at this,” said Matt. “Everyone has invested so much in us so we’re making sure we’re investing in them as well.” 3117

Students at a California high school may have eaten cookies with another student's dead grandmother's ashes in them.Police are investigating after accusations have been made against students that they put the ashes in sugar cookies and gave them to nine classmates, according to KOVR in Sacramento.No one who ate one of the cookies got sick, the police report says."I have not heard of anyone getting sick, or anybody being harmed as far as physically or physiologically by this," Lt. TELLER COUNTY, Colo. – A two-day search of the home of Kelsey Berreth’s fiancé in Florissant, Colorado turned up no sign of the missing woman, Chief of Police Miles J. De Young said Sunday.About 75 people from multiple jurisdictions searched the 35-acre home of Patrick Frazee Saturday, hoping to find any new clues that would provide answers into the Woodland Park, Colorado woman’s mysterious disappearance. Frazee, who has not been ruled out as a suspect in the case, continues to cooperate with police during the investigation, according to his lawyer.“We still have not found Kelsey,” De Young said in the latest press release from law enforcement.The search, which at one point involved the help of a backhoe, was completed Saturday and the property was turned over to Frazee.Investigators are continuing to conduct interviews as De Young stressed the case “remains our number one priority.”Details about what investigators were searching for at the home have not been released. 1022

Students around the United States are walking out of class to demand tougher gun laws in response to last week's deadly shooting in Parkland, Florida, but some schools are threatening them with harsh punishments.The Needville Independent School District in Texas issued a warning Tuesday that anyone who participated in a walkout or other political protest would be suspended for three days."Life is all about choices and every choice has a consequence whether it be positive or negative. We will discipline no matter if it is one, fifty, or five hundred students involved. All will be suspended for 3 days and parent notes will not alleviate the discipline," Superintendent Curtis Rhodes said in a statement posted on the Needville High School Facebook page.Rhodes said the Houston-area district would not tolerate any protests or demonstrations during school hours."A school is a place to learn and grow educationally, emotionally and morally.
