SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego Police are asking the pubic for help identifying a group of suspects they say assaulted a male outside a Pacific Beach restaurant this month.Police said the victim got into an argument with a group of men outside Backyard Bar and Grill on Garnet Ave. on April 1, at about 1:30 a.m. During the argument, one of the suspects punched the victim in the face three times.After the victim walked across the street to get away from the group, the suspects followed him and repeatedly punched and kicked him while he was on the ground, police added.The victim was taken to a nearby hospital with major head and facial injuries. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego FBI agents are asking the public for help find a suspect who robbed a bank in the College Area Wednesday.The man, described as a black man in his late 30s to early 40s and standing about 6-feet tall, entered a Union Bank branch in the 6000 block of El Cajon Blvd. at about 11 a.m. Investigators say the man handed a teller a demand note and received an undisclosed amount of cash. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego Police arrested nine people suspected of driving under the influence Saturday night. According to the department, the checkpoint was held on the 1400 block of G Street between 11:30 p.m. Saturday and 3 a.m. Sunday. A total of 2,403 vehicles went through the checkpoint, police say. More than 400 vehicles were screened, 13 drivers evaluated and nine people arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol. San Diego Police said in a news release that they plan to conduct another DUI checkpoint at an undisclosed location on Halloween. The metrics were then organized under either "budget and participation" and "sports and outdoors."San Diego ranked first in fitness centers and sports centers per capita, seventh in baseball and softball diamonds per capita, 22nd in basketball hoops per capita, 16th in parkland acres per capita, and 30th in walking. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego Police identified Tuesday the officer involved in a shooting in Little Italy Saturday.Several witnesses flagged down a patrol car driving at 1300 India Street about 6:45 p.m. to let the officer know about a man who was not wearing a shirt and acting belligerently.The SDPD report indicated Officer Anthony Bueno found the man, Brent Zadina, on the hood of a car, yelling at the driver.RELATED: Officer Bueno has history of conflictsZadina appeared to be drunk or under the influence of drugs, police said.Officer Bueno tried to arrest Zadina but he resisted and the officer used his taser, according to the report. Zadina continued to struggle and the officer feared for his life, said the SDPD.Officer Bueno fired one round but missed Zadina. No one was injured.Additional officers arrived and handcuffed Zadina, who was taken to the hospital for observation.San Diego Police said Zadina remains at the hospital and will be booked into jail when he is released.Officer Bueno is a 19-year veteran of the police force.Anyone with information is asked to call the San Diego Police Department at 619-531-2293. 1148
