A Pennsylvania couple is facing criminal charges after police say they hid the body of their infant daughter in a plastic container filled with cat litter in a crawlspace inside their home, according to the Berks County District Attorney’s Office.Samantha Trump, 27, and Shaun Oxenreider, 25, are charged with abuse of a corpse, concealing the whereabouts of a child and criminal conspiracy, according to a criminal complaint.Spring Township police began an investigation when two relatives of Oxenreider contacted them, reporting that they’d heard about the death of the 6-month old baby, the criminal complaint says.Officials are still trying to determine how and when the child died. An autopsy has been scheduled.Police say a relative of Oxenreider told them he’d heard several stories about what happened to the baby and who paid for the funeral expenses from Oxenreider, according to the criminal complaint.Police spoke to a Berks County Children and Youth Services caseworker to follow up with the report, the criminal complaint says. The caseworker spoke to Oxenreider and Trump on the phone, then told police their statements were suspicious. The caseworker also told police she could find no record of the baby’s name with either Trump or Oxenreider as a last name at any Berks-area hospital, or at the funeral home where the couple said they had the baby’s remains cremated. When asked to provide a death certificate for the child, Trump told the caseworker that she and Oxenreider were in New Jersey visiting a relative, and would not be back until after Easter, according to the criminal complaint. On Monday night, the criminal complaint says, a relative drove past the couple’s home on the 1300 block of West Wyomissing Court and saw Oxenreider’s vehicle parked outside. The relative contacted police, who went to the home to investigate. The couple initially did not allow police inside, the criminal complaint says. Officers spoke to Trump through the door while Oxenreider attended to the couple’s other child. As the investigating officer and child protective services officials arrived on the scene, Oxenreider left the home, and Trump remained at the door, the criminal complaint says. Trump then dropped to the ground and went into convulsions during questioning by investigators. She was taken to Reading Hospital for treatment, according to the criminal complaint.Police continued to speak to Oxenreider. Shortly after midnight, they asked his permission to search the home, the criminal complaint says. Officers made it clear that they wanted to look in spaces that could potentially conceal a child.Oxenreider agreed to the search.Police eventually searched a locked bathroom, that Oxenreider opened with a key. Inside they discovered used diapers, pictures of the baby, and baby clothing. A door inside the bathroom leading to a crawl space was also found. When police looked inside, they found a large plastic container with the lid snapped shut, the criminal complaint says. The container was filled with cat litter.Officers noticed a plastic trash bag sticking out of the litter. When the bag was pulled out and cut open, the criminal complaint says, police discovered the child’s body inside.Oxenreider was arrested without incident, according to the Berks County District Attorney’s Office. Trump remains a patient at a Reading hospital and is being kept under guard by the Berks County Sheriff’s Department.Bail information for Oxenreider was not available. 3500
A New Jersey state trooper admitted to the state's attorney general that he pulled over women while on duty in an attempt to ask women out on a date, WNBC-TV reported. The trooper, 37-year-old Marquice Prather, pleaded guilty on Monday to charges of invasion of privacy, tampering with physical evidence and falsifying or tampering with records. He had been suspended without pay since December after accusations mounted against the trooper. WNBC reported that Prather will be banned from public office, and likely will face probation for the charges. Authorities told WNBC that Prather tampered evidence by turning off his microphone, as the trooper claimed the microphone malfunctioned. Prather was accused by authorities of going through personal information and photos on the cellphones of female motorists. Prather was also accused of copying intimate photos and videos of the women, and he would solicit the women to go on a date with him. 1028

A typical delivery turned into a personal moment for one Michigan military family and an Amazon delivery driver.Amanda LeCureaux of New Baltimore, Michigan says she received a notification on her phone from her smart doorbell about an incoming delivery on Dec. 12 and turned on the camera to see what was coming.“I started to play it…and it showed him saluting, and I was like, ‘oh my gosh,’” LeCureaux said. The delivery driver dropped off a package, stepped back from the porch and saluted the house before leaving. The reason for the salute? LeCureaux's husband serves in the Air National Guard and the family has an Air Force sign on the porch.“He was very honored they would do something like that,” LeCureaux said of her husband, who has served in the Air National Guard for more than 13 years. After witnessing the kind gesture, LeCureaux said she tried to catch the delivery driver, but he was already gone.“My husband and I thought with all the negative stuff going on in the world…that was really sweet,” she said. This story was originally published by WXYZ in Detroit. 1084
A Michigan man is disgusted after an incident on a Delta Air Lines flight involving a service dog and the mess it left behind. The Bay City, Mich. man had just boarded the plane to Miami when he noticed feces all over the floor and his seat. When he alerted the crew, he said they did little to nothing to help.“Actual feces and it was all over me. I sat in it and it was on the seat, on the floor, the seat in front. And I was literally in it,” said Matthew Meehan, Delta customer. The Bay City resident said via FaceTime about the very smelly, disgusting encounter he had on a recent Delta flight from Atlanta to Miami. He said upon sitting in his seat, he and the passenger next to him quickly discovered they had sat in feces. They both ran to the front of the plane to clean off and were shocked by what the flight attendant handed them.“I have no idea why I wasn’t offered something from the biohazard kit to clean myself up with. Instead, I was handed two paper towels and one of those miniature bottles of Bombay Sapphire, a bottle of gin to clean myself with,” Meehan said.Meehan said that was just the beginning. After cleaning what he could of the feces from his hands and clothing, he said flight attendants continued to board the plane and told him there was nothing more they could do. He exited the plane to speak with a manager and said this was her response:“At the very beginning, she sighed, ‘what’s your problem?’ And it was just you know, I had to step back for a moment and say, alright, keep your composer. You do not want to be one of these people you see on the news getting kicked off a plane. Meanwhile, I’m covered in feces,” Meehan said.Meehan said he and fellow passengers were forced to lay a blanket over the mess and endure the smell for the entire two-hour flight.Delta Air Lines released the following statement:“On Nov. 1, an aircraft operating flight 1949 from Atlanta to Miami was boarded before cleaning was completed following an incident from a previous flight with an ill service animal. Delta apologizes to customers impacted by the incident and has reached out to make it right, offering a refund and additional compensation. The safety and health of our customers and employees is our top priority, and we are conducting a full investigation while following up with the right teams to prevent this from happening again. Upon landing in Miami, the aircraft was taken out of service to be deep cleaned and disinfected.”Meehan acknowledged he was offered a refund, but more importantly he hopes this incident forces Delta to look at its current policies.Meehan also said he has been contacted by dozens of lawyers since the incident, wanting to take on the case. 2709
A tiger and panther cub pair was seized at the Tijuana Airport Tuesday. Both are safe an in custody. Officials say the cubs were found inside a wooden box with no documentation. Both were sent from the State of Mexico, but officials say their final destination is unclear. This isn't the first time a tiger cub has been taken in. Last August a tiger cub was seized from a car at the border by Customs and Border Protection officers. That cub has been under the care of the San Diego Zoo Safari Park. 528
