The survey adds that only 9 percent of singles are looking to date casually.With that in mind, San Diego ranked as the second best city for cuffing, behind only Indianapolis. "It's beautiful here, safe here, the grandkids can run free and have a great time."This year - however - the celebration is quite a bit different - due the outbreak of Covid 19.Campland on the Bay, on Mission Bay's north end, is like many hotels along San Diego's coastline. It's not totally booked.Elvin Lai, who owns the Ocean Park Inn in Pacific Beach, said he was booked in the high 60 percents at a time when the hotel is usually full. "It doesn't mean that I won't get last minute bookings but we're used to being sold out for the month of July months in advance, so it's different."On Friday at the campland, the mood was festive, but the activities were limited - the skate park and basketball courts were taped off. There won't be any bands for outdoor entertainment, and indoor dining is disallowed.Campland on the Bay also placed yellow cones on the beach to give people a clear path to the water. It's also requiring all tents to be spaced out by eight feet. Masks are required in public areas, and rangers are carrying around extra.Still, not every visitor was wearing a mask."Everybody doesn't follow it," said Barry Homer, who is staying on the grounds with his wife Cindy. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Just in time for the San Diego Zoo's reopening this month, a recent animal addition will be making his debut.A 2-month-old male pygmy hippopotamus, named Akobi, and his mother, Mabel, have been moved from the park's maternity habitat to the main pygmy hippo habitat in the Lost Forest area of the zoo.Akobi, born on April 9 and the first success pygmy hippo birth at the zoo in more than 30 years, stayed close to his mom once introduced to the habitat. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Lifeguards say two people were rescued from a trail in the Blacks Beach area on Sunday in separate incidents.The first involved a woman who injured her ankle, according to San Diego Fire-Rescue. The woman was about half-way down before being injured. Lifeguards put her on a stretcher and used ropes to lower her down to the beach. She was taken by lifeguards to meet paramedics.The second occurred on the same trail, involving a woman suffering from heat exhaustion. She was unable to make it down the rest of the trail, requiring lifeguards to hoist her to the beach below to get her to paramedics.Lifeguards said with Labor Day weekend approaching and a heatwave expected next weekend, they are reminding visitors to local trails to know their limits, wear proper footwear for uneven beach terrain, and make sure they have plenty of water.Beach lifeguards say they don't expect to see crowds slow down anytime soon. 945
