FRESNO, Calif. (AP) — A Northern California man posed as a woman on dating apps to lure men to a meeting place and then rob and carjack them, prosecutors said.Contra Costa County District Attorney's Office charged Hakeem Doeparker, 20, this week with multiple felonies, including second-degree robbery and criminal threats, attempted extortion and carjacking, The Fresno Bee reported Wednesday.Doeparker allegedly created female profiles on apps such as Skout and MeetMe! to connect with his victims. Prosecutors said he scheduled dates with the victims in Antioch, which is about 45 miles (72 km) northwest of San Francisco.He approached victims from behind, pointed a gun at them and threatened to shoot or kill them if they did not give him their money or car keys.The charges stem from incidents that occurred in June with four men, who all escaped unharmed. Doeparker successfully took money and two cars, which police later recovered.Doeparker, who is in custody, pleaded not guilty to the charges on Tuesday.Prosecutors believe there may be several additional victims. While conventions are a way for parties to energize their leaders for the stretch run of a campaign, the gathering of delegates allow for the party to develop its platform.While conventions officially serve the purpose of nominating a candidate for vice president and president, the nominations are generally a formality at the convention. With a virtual convention, the most visual component of the convention is gone. Will the addresses just be seen as more stump speeches?The event will also be pared down some. The speeches will run from 9 to 11 p.m. ET nightly. At previous conventions, festivities generally began in the late afternoon. With a shortened timeframe, a number of lower profile Democrats – think members of Congress without a national profile – won’t make it on the convention stage.What’s the sameThe format will still be a familiar one for those who follow conventions. A number of speeches will be given by top Democrats to promote Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, and the party’s platform.Tuesday will also feature the official nomination for president and vice president. Wednesday will include the traditional vice presidential nominee acceptance speech, following by Thursday’s traditional presidential nominee acceptance speech.Like at a customary convention, the virtual Democratic Convention will have themes each night. Former World Wrestling Entertainment star Brian Christopher Lawler died Sunday, according to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.Lawler, 46, is the son of Jerry "The King" Lawler, a WWE Hall of Fame wrestler. He was best known in WWE as the Too Cool tag team's Grandmaster Sexay, according to the organization.An investigation is underway after Lawler, who was an inmate at the Hardeman County jail, was found in his cell on Saturday, said the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.Celebrity deaths of 2018: Remembering those we've lost this year"Corrections officers administered CPR until paramedics arrived," according to a statement from the agency. FRANKLIN, Ind. -- A Franklin, Indiana man who's been arrested once for driving his lawnmower while drunk was arrested again Saturday for the same reason, according to the Johnson County Sheriff's Office.A sheriff's deputy was sent to a Franklin lawn around 5:15 p.m. after a caller said a man wearing a neon green shirt, riding a red lawnmower, pulled into his yard and began to mow his grass.The caller said he told the man to get off his property.A Franklin police officer spotted the man headed west on his lawnmower on County Road 100 North. The man was identified by his drivers ID card as Barry K. Ridge.Ridge told the sheriff's deputy that he was headed from his uncle's house back to his home.The deputy said he noticed Ridge's eyes appeared glassy.He asked Ridge if he drank any alcohol and Ridge reportedly told the deputy he had three beers about an hour ago.According to the police report, Ridge's breath test at the Johnson County Jail registered .165. The legal limit in Indiana is .08.Ridge was arrested on a preliminary charge of OWI with a previous conviction. His lawnmower was also impounded.Ridge is currently awaiting trial on an OWI arrest from April 8, 2018, where he was reportedly on his lawnmower in a Kroger parking lot causing a disturbance.According to the Johnson County Sheriff's Office, Ridge has prior conviction for OWI out of Marion County from September 2013. 1443

Football coach Derrick Clark was a convicted drug dealer when he was hired two seasons ago for New Haven Endeavour Middle School in New Haven, Michigan. Now he’s in jail facing serious sex charges.  School Superintendent Todd Robinson talked with Jim Kiertzner, investigator for Scripps station WXYZ in Detroit and said he knew Clark had some criminal past, saying “Not to the extent that you’re sharing with me now.”  Robinson would not say what his understanding of it was. “I don’t want to make any more comment about it at this time.” Robinson also would not answer if he would still hire him if he knew what he knows today.State records show Clark was convicted of drug possession and running a drug house and was on probation from 2009 to 2014.
