SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego Police are investigating after a 12-year-old skateboarder was hit by a car in Mira Mesa Monday night. According to police, the crash happened on Reagan Road near Calico Street before 6:30 p.m. Police say the 12-year-old was taken to the hospital with major head injuries. She says some buildings even require tenants hire move-in coordinators to make sure things go smoothly and not disturb other residents. The biggest financial issues that arise for renters come at the end of a lease, when it comes to getting a security deposit refunded, Steingrebe said. She said the best defense is to document with photos and text any damage or issues that occur throughout the year, starting with an initial move-in inspection. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego County will expand enforcement efforts to track down businesses knowingly operating in violation of the current public health order.After a bit of a lengthy back and forth, the board of supervisors voted unanimously to expand the current enforcement team.Currently, the county’s newly developed Safe Reopening Compliance Team focuses on egregious cases, outbreaks, and complaints.There are only ten staff members presently on the team, 13 more will be added on during phase one to continue looking into egregious cases and outbreak investigations.A Healthy Compliance Call Center also went live, where members of the public can report violations of the public health order by calling (858) 694- 2900.Tuesday’s vote to include a phase two will add 22 staff members at .8 million to follow up with businesses or entities that are still operating in violation of the public health order.The funding will come from the CARES Act.Two other enforcement options were on the table for supervisors consider, but they were voted down by the majority.Dr. Wilma Wooten, the county’s public health officer, has already sent several letters ordering businesses to close down until they comply with the order.A handful of gyms and churches in the county have stayed open inside despite being ordered to close or move their operations outdoors.This week the San Diego County District Attorney’s Office filed five misdemeanor charges against a Ramona gym owner for failing to comply. 1505

Gavin Newsom denied removing San Diego State’s COVID-19 cases from the county’s total case rate.The meeting, though, yielding no new actions by the county.In a statement, Supervisor Nathan Fletcher said since the board took no action, "it would be inappropriate to comment on the deliberation.""In general, I believe we should be fighting COVID-19 and not the state of California. We do not yet know what our case rate will be next Tuesday and will have to evaluate that number in order to understand any possible impact," Fletcher said.The county is now at risk of moving back to the most restrictive purple tier if the case rate is higher than 7.0 by next week. I understand that I get that concept, but can we get a break once in a while? Just a little break, that's how I looked at this. This was my break," said Jeff Tracy.Tracy is referring to the safe parking lot on Imperial Avenue which accommodates RVs; it's operated by Dreams for Change."Because you can't function and take care of your basic needs if you're worried about your basic needs."Tracy's life forever changed seven years ago when a drunk driver crashed into the vehicle he was in with his wife and daughter. Tracy was the only one who survived, and he lost one of his legs. He's been struggling ever since. "It's a very learning process being homeless, and I don't like it, and I know most people don't, it's a hard life."Some RV owners like Tracy worry they'll have to move their RV during the day if they're moved to the new parking lot. He not only has to get his wheelchair in and out of the RV but says the cost of gas would be astronomical. "Expensive, hard, it's stressful, because now I've got to move it and where am I going to move it to? I've got to pull over here to some resident again, and they're going to get upset, I don't want to upset people," said Tracy.Tracy says the Safe Parking Program has given him a place to feel safe while he tries to plan for a better future.
