Ed King, who co-wrote the Lynyrd Skynyrd hit "Sweet Home Alabama," the tune with the classic riff that became a Southern rock anthem, has died.The retired guitarist died Wednesday at his home in Nashville, according to his Facebook page. (KGTV) - A plane made an emergency landing Friday on westbound Interstate 8, according to the California Highway Patrol.A 36-year-old student pilot and 25-year-old instructor from California Flight Academy were above El Cajon and had engine trouble about 11:15 a.m., the CHP reported.According to SDSUBaseball's twitter page, the instructor is Ryan Muno, a former Aztec baseball star.Both men were trying to land at Gillespie Field but were forced to touch down on the freeway. The instructor took over the controls and landed safely in lanes near Second Ave."The instructor took over the controls of the plane. (KGTV) -- Five people were taken to the hospital Tuesday afternoon after reportedly falling ill at an El Cajon animal hospital.The incident was reported at around 1:40 p.m. at the Care & Comfort Veterinary Hospital on 522 E Chase Ave.According to Heartland Fire officials, five adults and two children inside the hospital reported not feeling well.Responding emergency crews conducted tests on the adults and children, and they found the seven people had elevated levels of carbon monoxide in their systems.The adults were transported, but the two children -- for reasons unknown -- were not taken to the hospital.Fire officials said a hazardous materials team and county health officials tested the air in the building but could not locate the source of the carbon monoxide.Meanwhile, officials advised owners to pick up their pets from the hospital out of an abundance of caution. 911
