SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- America’s Finest City ranked high on a new list of best cities for jobs in 2019, according to WalletHub. San Diego ranked 28th out of 182 cities overall. Chula Vista also made the list, coming in 123rd place. According to the report, the national unemployment rate has fallen to an 18-year low of just 3.7 percent, while hiring also is up. He also uses history to teach kids about COVID-19.Quade Kelley, 11, produces different videos imagining what it would be like for historical figures, like Albert Einstein and Charlie Chaplin, in today’s world. In his videos, the student is telling others “about COVID and what we could do to have the cases go down."In one of his videos, he received the surprise of a lifetime when he found out he was a finalist in the Inaugural “Who Was?” History Bee. Kelley beat out 25,000 kids across the U.S.The student has read nearly 190 books about public and historical figures, over 250 biographies, and spent more than 300 hours studying.“Because of COVID, they canceled New York. It's sort of disappointing, but at least I had an amazing opportunity to be a co-champion," Kelley said.The winners of the contest split ,000. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A suspect fleeing from officers and an innocent Camp Pendleton Marine were killed in an early-morning head-on crash following a chase on Interstate 5 in Carlsbad. The pursuit began just after midnight Tuesday when officers attempted to stop a motorist driving a dark-colored F-150 truck for a speeding and failing to signal a turn on Coast Highway turning onto Monterey Dr. When officers got to the door of the truck, the suspect took off on Carmelo Drive near Harbor Drive in Oceanside. The suspect's wife tells 10News Christian Zurita is the man who led police on the chase. Zurita was reported traveling at speeds of up to 100 mph, and sometimes driving the wrong way on the freeway, police said.About 10 minutes into the chase, the truck entered the northbound lanes in the wrong direction near the Las Flores bridge trying to evade police. NEWS HEADLINES: Preliminary hearing begins for LJCD teacher accused of sex with 17-year-old Oceanside Police Department officers did not pursue the truck because it was going the wrong way on the highway, traveling southbound in the northbound lanes, according to investigators. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – A shipment from Mexico containing over 200 non-FDA approved COVID-19 test kits was seized at San Diego International Airport, U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials announced Wednesday.CBP officials said the shipment of two packages arrived at the airport on Dec. 1 from a flight out of Mexico. In a news release, officials said the shipment was manifested as “plastic card” and then taken for inspection.Officers found 251 COVID-19 test kits inside the packages, and they were then evaluated by FDA officials.An inspection by the FDA found the kits were misbranded, and the shipment “did not have an FDA Emergency Use Authorization and violated the Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act.”The kits, with a domestic value of ,000, were seized by CBP officers, with Homeland Security notified of the shipment.CBP San Diego Director of Field Operations Anne Maricich said, “I am proud of how vigilant our officers are when it comes to protecting our communities, they stopped the entry of unauthorized, unproven and potentially unsafe goods into the United States.
