A group surrounded and attacked an NYPD officer in Lower Manhattan, police said Thursday. Pictures released from the May 28 attack at Albany Street and West Avenue show two men accused in the attack. One man pushed the 37-year-old officer to the ground and punched him in the face. The second man repeatedly struck the officer with his skateboard. Police said the officer was treated for a bloody nose along with bruising and pain to the head and shoulder. Governor Andrew Cuomo announced on Monday the state's formula that will determine which school districts can reopen to students in September.The formula will be implemented between August 1 and August 7, based on COVID-19 data in each region. Schools in regions in Phase Four of their reopening at that time will be able to reopen to students if the region's daily infection rate remains 5% or lower over a 14-day average.After August 1, schools will close if their regional infection rate is greater than 9% over a seven-day average.Once reopening, schools must follow guidelines specific to their districts. The New York State Health Department has released its own guidelines, which will be used by districts to develop plans.The health department's guidelines include masks and PPE whenever students or staff cannot maintain social distancing (six feet of separation). The father of New England Patriots running back James White was killed in a crash Sunday afternoon in South Florida, hours before his team's appearance on NBC's "Sunday Night Football."Broward Sheriff's Office Sgt. Donald Prichard said Miami-Dade police Capt. Tyrone White was killed in a two-vehicle crash about 1 p.m. along Griffin Road in Cooper City. Prichard said one vehicle overturned and the other caught fire. Two of the three victims were flown to a hospital for medical treatment, but the elder White was pronounced dead at the scene.
