(KGTV) -- Thursday afternoon, police chased a suspect through San Diego County they say stole a vehicle from National City. During the pursuit, police used spikes, which shredded tires on the truck. After the truck came to a stop in Encanto, police could be seen shooting pepper balls into the truck. The suspect emerged from the vehicle a few moments later when a police K9 could be seen attacking the suspect before he was placed in handcuffs and taken into custody. Police say a Pit Bull was found in the back seat of the truck. At this time, authorities say it's unclear whether the dog belongs to the suspect or the person the truck was stolen from. 10News was live throughout the chase. NASCAR CEO Brian Z. France was arrested for aggravated driving while intoxicated and possession of a controlled substance on Sunday night, the Sag Harbor Village Police in New York said.France, the leader of the auto-racing sports governing body, was driving a 2017 Lexus on Main Street at 7:30 p.m. and ran a stop sign, police said. During a traffic stop, it was determined he was operating the vehicle while intoxicated, police said.Police also said he was in possession of oxycodone pills. He was arrested and held overnight, police said. France was arraigned at Sag Harbor Village Justice Court on Monday morning and then was released on his own recognizance."We are aware of an incident that occurred last night and are in the process of gathering information," NASCAR said. "We take this as a serious matter and will issue a statement after we have all of the facts."NASCAR was created by William H.G. France, a stock car driver and gas station owner, in 1947 and has stayed in the France family's name. (KGTV) - Surveillance cameras captured a chain-reaction, hit-and-run crash in National City Tuesday morning.For Honey Mae Kenworthy, the remnants of her totaled car are hard to look at."I cried when I saw it," said Kenworthy.Surveillance video shows the last moments the 2003 Acura TL was undamaged, parked by her husband on Cleveland Avenue outside his work in an industrial park. Just past 7 a.m., a car speeds into frame and smashes into back of her car, pushing it into the car in front of it."Upset and angry whenever I see it ... he's obviously not paying any attention," said Kenworthy.After the crash, the gray car backs up and parks. The driver then gets out and starts picking up his car parts. After about 5 minutes, the man gets back in the car and drives off."Just an awful person for doing that. I felt robbed of my hard work ... had just paid of the vehicle," said Kenworthy.The driver didn't quite get everything. He left several parts, including a section of his right front bumper. Kenworthy says those parts belong to a Lexus, giving police a few more clues. Without an identification on the mystery driver, she's out of luck since she doesn't have comprehensive coverage. The car was likely going to be her 15-year-old son's first car."I feel really bad I might not have anything for him. NASA could make history on Tuesday as their spacecraft, OSIRIS-REx, will attempt to land on an ancient asteroid 200 million miles away from Earth.OSIRIS-REx launched in 2016. It arrived at the asteroid, named Bennu, in 2018 and it’s been mapping out the surface working to pick the best location to land ever since.The mission’s operations are headquartered at the University of Arizona.The mission will begin at 2:50 p.m. Arizona time on Tuesday. At 3:12 p.m., OSIRIS-REx will finally touch down on Bennu and collect a sample before heading back to Earth. Dr. Lori Glaze with NASA tells ABC15 the sample will allow researchers to study the ancient secrets of our solar system. She says Bennu also has a 1-in-2,700 chance of impacting Earth in about 150 years or so, so this mission can help researchers work to prevent that.“Helping us refine and reduce the uncertainties on Bennu’s orbit so we can better predict more precisely not only when it might intercept with Earth, but what the probability of that intersection is,” Dr. Glaze said. “So the mission's been critically important for refining Bennu’s orbit so we can help protect ourselves in the future.”Watch a live stream of the event in the player below. 1222

MORENO VALLEY, Calif. (KGTV) - Cal Fire and Riverside County Fire crews responded Friday to a wildfire threatening utility infrastructure in Moreno Valley. The first firefighters to reach the scene along Gilman Springs Road reported four spot fires approximately one mile apart and one acre each, Cal Fire tweeted. Within an hour, the so-called Jerry Fire spread to 500 acres with a rapid rate of spread and no containment.Multiple structures were threatened, said officials. Aerial video from the scene showed at least one structure engulfed in flames. Approximately 15 homes on Gilman Springs Road between Highway 60 and Jack Rabbit Trail were evacuated.There was no immediate word on the cause of the fire. About 3:30 p.m., winds in the area are 8 miles per hour and the temperatures are in the low 70s, according to 10News meterologist Angelica Campos.
