A Buffalo Public School student’s mother wants answers after she says her son’s teacher dragged him down several stairs. “She was dragging him down the stairs by his knees,” said Tasha Dixon. Dixon says she didn’t witness what happened but someone else did, prompting an internal investigation by the district. “I had received a call from the principal and she said my son had been involved in an incident.” She says her son Malik is in a 611 class, which is for special education students. She says Malik also has a disability. “He asked her to go to the bathroom and she told him no because she felt he didn’t need to go. He sat down and she insisted he move so she took him by the legs and thumped him down a couple stairs.” Dixon says she met with the school principal, who she says indicated an eyewitness came forward to administrators about what happened. During that meeting she says she was told since it happened in a hallway, cameras captured the event, however; she was not allowed to see the video because it is property of the district. “In a closed meeting she said it wasn’t a good video,” Dixon said. “How can you have the audacity to touch my son?” A spokesperson for Buffalo Schools says the district did a month-long investigation and found the claims against the teacher unfounded. A British family has filed a complaint with the Department of Homeland Security over their detention by US immigration authorities, after saying they accidentally crossed the US border while vacationing in Canada, an account that has been strongly disputed by US officials.The family of seven, which includes a three-month-old baby, were detained earlier this month. They said that they ended up in the US after taking a wrong turn from British Columbia into Washington.A senior US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) official, however, told CNN that by all appearances on the ground, the family was trying to get into the US undetected.In the complaint, the family said they have been "traumatized" by the experience. In a sworn statement, the family described the baby being forced to sleep on a "filthy concrete floor" in "frigid temperatures" during their first night in custody.The family said they crossed the border on October 3, after making a "very brief detour on an unmarked road to avoid an animal on the road" that landed them in the United States.Immigration officials tell a different version of the story. CBP released a statement on Tuesday evening further explaining the incident:"A vehicle was observed via remote video surveillance system turning west onto Avenue 0 in British Columbia, Canada, at approximately 9 p.m., Oct. 2. The vehicle then turned south and entered the U.S. illegally, by slowly and deliberately driving through a ditch onto Boundary Road in Blaine, Washington. The vehicle traveled west on Boundary Road continuing on the United States' side, and was pulled over by a Border Patrol agent a short time later. The seven occupants of the vehicle, who are citizens of the United Kingdom, were arrested at approximately 9:13 p.m., in accordance with law as established by the Immigration and Nationality Act for illegally entering the United States without inspection."The CBP senior official told CNN that the group had ,000 in cash on them when they were arrested.A second CBP official told CNN that the two adult men in the group had previously applied to enter the US under the ESTA Visa Waiver Program, but had their applications refused in March 2018. A Guatemalan father is suing two nonprofits that house migrant children for the US government, alleging his 10-year-old son was forced to take psychotropic drugs and sexually assaulted while in custody.The father and son, identified in the lawsuit as J.E.B. and F.C.B., allege that US officials forcibly separated them at the border in February 2018. From there, according to the lawsuit, F.C.B. was first placed in the custody of a migrant shelter run by Southwest Key in Arizona, then later transferred to the Shiloh Treatment Center in Manvel, Texas.The lawsuit alleges that both facilities "acted with fraud, malice and gross neglect" and that staff at both facilities physically assaulted F.C.B. At the Texas facility, the lawsuit alleges the boy "was dosed with powerful psychotropic drugs without parental consent." He was also sexually assaulted by another detained child during the last few weeks of his time in custody at Shiloh, the suit says.Both the boy and his father were deported last year, according to the lawsuit, which seeks damages for the pain, emotional distress and medical expenses they've allegedly suffered. 1146
