Isaiah Wright, one of the stars of season one of the Netflix series "Last Chance U" has been arrested in connection with a Tennessee murder.The Knoxville News Sentinel reported Camion D. INDIANAPOLIS — It has been quite a journey for Kari Wegg.She had been working tirelessly as a NICU nurse at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis for more than 25 years when she found herself fighting for her own life with COVID-19 in that very same hospital.“It’s devastating. I never thought something like this could happen to me,” Wegg said. “It’s been so hard because I was healthy, and I thought if I ever got it, I would be fine.”Wegg first got sick in June and diagnosed with pneumonia. Then in July, she, her husband and two children tested positive for the coronavirus.“I do work in a hospital,” she said. “My husband also works in a hospital. It’s very possible we got it from the hospital.”Her family had mild symptoms and recovered quickly. However, Wegg did not.“It’s been since July since I’ve seen my boys., and I haven’t been able to hug them or love on them, and they miss me so much,” Wegg said.Wegg was put on a heart and lung bypass machine on Aug. 19. She says her doctors discussed removing care.“Their dad had to sit down and tell them their mother might die, and they’ve had to try and cope with that,” she said.But Wegg says her husband wouldn’t give up. Calls were made, and she was transferred to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago on Sept. 5 for a double lung transplant.Northwestern was the first hospital in the country to perform a double lung transplant on a COVID-19 paitnet, and Wegg was only the sixth such patient to undergo the surgery.“I am eternally grateful to the family of my donors,” Wegg said. “I don’t know anything about them or how they died but they gave me the gift of life.”Grateful to be alive, but devastated financially with non-stop medical bills, she suffers in her bed, while her fellow healthcare workers continue the fight. Wegg says she even has coworkers who have died of the virus.Wegg says she's praying that more people take the virus seriously."I’m hoping my message as a nurse who didn’t expect any of this can get out there and bring it home to people who don’t necessarily want to wear a mask or want to isolate themselves or quarantine," Wegg said. It's the end of an era: Toys "R" Us is closing all its US stores.That's sad news for the employees, kids and nostalgic adults, but could provide bargain hunters the opportunity to snag a deal.The?news of the 735 store closures means shoppers can expect discounts as the retailer liquidates. A company spokesperson said Thursday the timeline of sales has yet to be determined.But Chuck Tatelbaum, a director with Tripp Scott, a Florida law firm, expects the discounts to happen pretty quickly."I think that the sales will run for up to 60 days, and the closures will have taken place by then," he said. "The rent obligation is just so high."Depending on the timeline, the sales could be modest at first. The biggest discounts will come later."They will start discounting more and more as time goes on," said Ray Wimer, assistant professor of retail practice Syracuse. "But it's a double-edged sword: The item you might want might not be there anymore, but the better deals come later in the process."He expects the discounts to start around 20-30%, but eventually climb to 75-80% off. Any purchases made during the store closing process are final sale, according to the company.While customers haven't been flocking to the retailer recently, Wimer said the closing news could spur more foot traffic."We will likely see an outpouring from folks remembering being at Toys "R" Us. INDIANAPOLIS — Two Indiana veterans are raising concerns publicly about the Military Family Relief Fund, a fund that helps veterans get emergency help with food, housing, utilities, medical services and transportation.When you purchase a veteran license plate or a Support the Troops plate, a chunk of that money goes into the Military Family Relief Fund.The Indiana Department of Veterans Affairs administers the fund, and it says on their website that veterans and their families can get up to ,500.“Grants up to ,500 may be awarded,” reads the website. “The qualified individual or family member can receive up to ,500 one time from the Family Relief Fund.” Lisa Wilken, an Air Force veteran and veterans advocate, told WRTV someone contacted her with state records that show some people are getting beyond the ,500 limit.“I was very shocked,” said Wilken. “The big deal is ... the rules are the rules.  Anytime it’s beyond that limit, that’s a misuse of that fund.”The records shared with WRTV show several of the people who received more than the ,500 include employees of the Indiana Department of Veterans Affairs and the Military Family Relief Fund itself.“Employees at IDVA have been able to get this fund above ,500 where veterans around the state have been denied that opportunity,” said Wilken.Since 2016, IDVA has denied 799 applications to the Military Family Relief Fund.During that time frame, 3,971 applications have been approved.William Henry, an Army veteran and former adjutant of the American Legion, is also concerned about the inconsistency of how the fund is distributed to veterans in need."Those documents show potential misuse with the Military Family Relief Fund," said Henry. “To me, it looked very suspicious and called a lot of things into question and I thought immediately it needed to be looked into.”Henry said the American Legion asked him to resign when he pushed for the Indiana Inspector General to investigate IDVA and the Military Family Relief Fund."That's what it comes down to, doing the right thing,” said Henry. “Even though I lose a job. I'll find another job. In the desert miles outside of Las Vegas, a large white tube stretches for one third of a mile, and what happens inside could revolutionize travel. What if you could get to cities hundreds of miles apart in minutes instead of hours?Virgin Hyperloop One says this is no pipe dream.Dr. Anita Sengupta leads the team to make the technology come together. At their last speed test in the tube, she says their pod traveled 240 miles per hour, limited only by the length of the track. At top speeds, Sengupta says the Hyperloop is expected to travel at about 700 miles per hour. That, she said, means Hyperloop is not science fiction. “It is science fact because you can see it right here.” She spent most of her career working at NASA but brought her expertise back down to earth to help make Hyperloop a reality. This project reminds her of working on spacecraft. “I’m used to working with vacuum systems,” she said. “I’m used to working with electromagnetic propulsion.”How does Hyperloop work?Sengupta said the Hyperloop also uses a vacuum system. An electromagnetically propelled pod, designed to fit nine to twelve people, would levitate and travel through a vacuum tube. Between the levitation and vacuum system, she said the ride would remind people of an airplane but better. “There is no such thing as turbulence, right?
