Many people could probably use a haircut right now, after six months of a global pandemic, but probably not like Ewenice the sheep in Australia. She was recently found wandering with about 4-years of growth needing to be sheared off.The abandoned sheep was found in a heavily wooded area in southeast Australia, roaming on a property with no nearby flock or owner. A person spotted the sheep, burdened with the extra large fleece, and reported it to the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, or RSPCA.The RSPCA estimates the sheep, who they named Ewenice, had not been trimmed in about four years.Ewenice was checked over, given a haircut, and sent to a new home. About 44 pounds of wool was sheared off.“Carrying such a large fleece for an extended period of time would have had dire impact on this ewe’s welfare and quality of life. It was fantastic to see her transformation after shearing and to send her on to her new home,” said Head of Inspectorate Terry Ness.Fleece must be shorn regularly because sheep are unable to shed. 1057

Mandy Lamay wants to go from renter to buyer, looking to close on her first property during the COVID-19 crisis.“I started right as the pandemic was hitting,” she said of her home search. “That was kind of my driving factor for buying a house.”Purchasing a property during a pandemic, however, has proven to be somewhat problematic for buyers like Lamay.“You have to be viewing the house day one it pops on the market,” she said. “If you’re actually interested, you have to put in an offer immediately.”This kind of competition has created all kinds of chaos across the country.“We are seeing this pent-up demand,” said Dr. Jessica Lautz, vice president of demographics and behavioral insights for the National Association of Realtors. “We’ve actually seen in every region on a national scale that home sales actually did increase.”Lautz says after two months of drastic decline during the coronavirus shutdown, pending home sales mounted a record rebound in May.“The month-over-month increase in pending home sales is the largest that we’ve recorded,” she said.That’s more than a 44% increase after seeing home sales drop to their lowest levels in nine-and-a-half years.“Buyers are rethinking their living situations,” Lautz said. “So, the demand is really hot and that’s going to drive up prices.”Also impacting prices are slow building, low inventory and low interest rates.Combine those factors with more Americans looking to move from big cities to smaller towns and Lautz believes America’s real estate market will be impacted even more.“People are reevaluating and saying, ‘I don’t want to live in a dense area, crowded city center, crowded blocks,’” she said. “Elevator living is just not the right thing for people today.”For Lamay, she’s locked in a 3.125% interest rate and says she may overpay for her first property, if it gives her a peace of mind.“And then hopefully I’ll have a big new yard for my dog and myself,” she said. 1948

We definitely saw that going up in Canada, so we expect the same here," said Instacart trends expert Laurentia Romaniuk.Romaniuk says they first looked at buying trends for the Canadian Thanksgiving, which occurs in October. They found people aren't just buying smaller turkeys, but also choosing to make healthier sides."We're seeing customers go after a lot of healthier alternatives. We say it feeds six to eight people. It comes with sage-corn sweet bread which is our version of dressing and then a Madeira turkey gravy," explained Derek Dollar, Milton's executive chef and managing partner.This year, Dollar says, getting a Thanksgiving meal to-go is a good way to support a restaurant this year. He believes more restaurants will continue to close their doors for good because of the pandemic, and any support is appreciated."People are definitely jumping on board. Luckily, we were ahead of the curve and we’ve already done it," said Dollar.However you decide to eat your Thanksgiving meal this year, Dollar advises to not wait until the week of Thanksgiving to make your decision."We pre-ordered just to get it allocated, and big corporations aren’t ordering extra like they normally do. MEXICO CITY (KGTV) — Authorities Friday say at least two people have been killed at an elementary school in northern Mexico after a student opened fire on his teacher and classmates.Coahuila state Gov. Miguel Angel Riquelme said an 11-year-old sixth-grade student at Colegio Cervantes in Torreon, Coahuila, is the suspected gunman, the Associated Press reported. The student reportedly asked his teacher to use the bathroom and later returned to class with two firearms. Riquelme said the student killed his teacher and himself, and wounded five other students and a gym teacher at the private school. The AP reported that the unnamed student told a classmate, "today is the day" before leaving the class.The student is not believed to have shown any behavioral problems in the past, but investigators were looking into his online activity, according to Riquelme.
