VENTURA, Calif. (KGTV) - A suspect who led California Highway Patrol officers on a pursuit onto the 101 Freeway died of an apparent poisoning.The chase began Wednesday in Oxnard during a vehicle check, according to ABC-affiliate KABC. CHP officials said information came back on the car belonging to a rape suspect. When officers tried to pull the vehicle over, the driver refused, KABC reported.The chase continued northbound onto the 101 Freeway and ended in Ventura. The vehicle came to a stop in the center median, though CHP officers told KABC it's unclear if the suspect crashed of stopped the vehicle on his own.The suspect was seen motionless outside his vehicle, with the passenger-side glass shattered, according to KABC. Officers told the station they believed the suspect possibly poisoned himself.No officers were reportedly injured.Both sides of the 101 Freeway were initially shut down between Sanjon Road to Seaward Avenue, but some lanes have since reopened, KABC reported. 1028

Two Tennessee lawmakers have proposed a bill that would end child marriage in Tennessee.According to a press release Monday, the bill would make marriage age 18 and up – with no exceptions.The bills are sponsored by Sen. Jeff Yarbro and Rep. Darren Jernigan.According to the Pew Research Center, Tennessee is tied for the 6th-highest rate of child marriage.The current law allows 16 and 17-year-olds to marry when parents join in the marriage license application. Judges or county mayors may also approve marriages of people younger than 16, with no minimum age, according to a release.  "Current Tennessee law, would allow either a county elected official or a county judge to approve a marriage for a 15 year old, 14 year old, 9 year old," said Sen. Yarbo. "We think that is relatively insane."The founder of Unchained At Last, Fraidy Reiss, also claimed girls as young as 10 years old were married to men in their 20s in Tennessee. Two days after a gunman murdered 11 people worshipping at a synagogue in Pittsburgh, a leader of a controversial sect of Judaism gave a prayer prior to Mike Pence's campaign rally in Michigan.On Monday evening in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Pence invited Rabbi Loren Jacobs of the Synagogue Shema Yisrael in Michigan to lead a prayer. In his prayer, Jacobs prayed to the "God and father of my lord and savior, Yahshua, Jesus the Messiah."Messianic Jews believe that Jesus is the Messiah promised by the prophets, though they still follow traditional Jewish religious laws. Many traditional Jewish leaders don't consider the movement to be Judaism — many consider it a form of Christian evangelism, and others consider the movement anti-Semitic.Pence's staff later told reporters that Jacobs was invited to the event by Lena Epstein, who's running for Congress and for whom Pence was campaigning. Tucson Police's Operation Division South Motor Squad took a different and non-traditional approach to help raise awareness for safe driving on Thursday.According to the department, mannequins were placed at different intersections around Tucson in an effort to lower collision statistics and urge drivers to pay better attention to their driving and what is around them. The mannequins were dressed like officers and placed in and around police vehicles near intersections that are or have been known for vehicle crashes.This is the first time TPD has utilized this method by using mannequins.Tucson Police said drivers can expect to see the mannequins out again Aug. 21 but the location has yet to be determined.  732
