SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego County health officials reported Friday 11 hospitalizations due to vaping. Those who have been hospitalized range from 17 to 70 years old, according to County of San Diego Communications Specialist Tom Christensen. The illnesses come as U.S. health officials urge people to stop vaping until they can determine the cause of serious breathing illnesses. Symptoms include shortness of breath, fatigue, chest pain and vomiting. Some 450 cases and as many as five deaths have been identified in 33 states, including California. Some argue e-cigarettes are not as lethal as conventional cigarettes and can be a valuable aide to smokers trying to kick the habit But others say studies have not established that adult smokers who try vaping end up quitting smoking long term. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego Police are searching for a suspect who they say tried to sexually assault a woman before stealing her car.According to police, the incident happened on the 1700 block of India Street at 4:33 a.m. Sunday.Police say the man walked into Cafe Italia while the victim was cleaning. The man then pushed the woman into a back room where he tried to sexually assault her while wielding a Bowie knife.The woman was able to fight the suspect off before he grabbed her car keys and drove out of the area in the tan, 1998 GMC Jimmy with California license plate 7VOY594.The man is described as a 25 to 30-year-old white male with a medium complexion who is five feet, five inches tall with a thin build, has dark, curly hair and is unshaven.The suspect was last seen wearing a white baseball cap with black stripes and stars resembling an American flag, a black short-sleeved t-shirt and tan shorts with dark, high-top tennis shoes.Anyone with information is asked to call San Diego Police’s Sex Crimes Unit at 619-531-2210. 1060

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego Police have released video footage after officers shot and killed a murder suspect following a standoff on May 29.The 32-year-old suspect who was shot and killed was accused of shooting and killing another man at a City Heights apartment complex.The video shows officer stationed outside the apartment complex. Watch the full video below:According to police, gunfire was reported at the complex on the 3800 block of Euclid Avenue around 3:30 p.m.Officers later found a 62-year-old Hispanic man with at least one gunshot wound. "Specially trained STAR medics deployed with the SWAT team to provide aid, but the suspect was pronounced deceased at the scene.
