(AP) — Mexican authorities have closed a border entry point in southern Mexico after thousands of Central American migrants tried to push their way across a bridge spanning the Suchiate River between Mexico and Guatemala. Normally migrants who want to request asylum in Mexico are allowed to cross the bridge. But many of migrants prefer to pass through Mexico en route to the U.S., which has repeatedly asked Mexico to impede their arrival. As the crowd swelled on the bridge, amid shoves, Mexican officials allowed several dozen migrants to enter the country in groups of 20. Mexico's government has said that migrants entering the country without registering will not be allowed to pass from the border area. But those seeking asylum or other protections will be allowed to apply and legalize their status.Guatemala tells the Associated Press they've counted more than 3,000 migrants who have registered at border crossings recently, but there were more migrants who haven't registered.Francisco Gardu?o, commissioner of Mexico’s National Immigration Institute, told the AP the migrants would not cross any farther.“They cannot enter because it would be in violation of the law,” he told the AP, adding there are “sufficient” troops to hold order in the area. 1270

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A severely injured horse trainer and her husband filed a lawsuit against SLR Training Center INC., the company that owns the San Luis Rey Downs Training Center in Bonsall. The nine-page complaint was filed March 18, and it focuses on the events of Dec. 7, 2017, when the Lilac Fire burned through the training facility. Martine Bellocq suffered burns to more than 60 percent of her body and lost a leg while trying to save racehorses, including her own. The court documents allege negligence on the part of the training facility. It also claims the San Luis Rey Downs facility “failed to keep a defensible space around structures.” It goes on to say “there were no fire suppression systems in place” and it “failed to have the foresight to have a means to evacuate the facility, or an emergency plan in place.” Bellocq’s attorney says her medical bills are racking up, currently in the hundreds of thousands of dollars.    IMPERIAL BEACH (CNS) - County officials today re-opened parts of the shoreline near Imperial Beach that had been closed due to sewage-contaminated runoff.  Beaches from the U.S.-Mexico border to the northern boundary of the Tijuana Slough National Wildlife refuge were closed on Feb. 11, after testing showed unsafe water quality.   The unhealthy water quality came after a Feb. 9 partial power failure at a treatment facility in Tijuana that allowed an estimated 560,000 gallons of water to flow through the Tijuana River across the border unhindered, according to the International Boundary and Water Commission. Additional sewage flows occurred on that day, as well as Feb. 15 and Tuesday, the commission said.   Officials sample the water quality in the area weekly, according to the San Diego County Department of Environmental Health, and sewage from the Tijuana River frequently results in beach closures during the winter rainy season. 994
