SAN DIEGO (AP) — The San Diego Zoo has two new arrivals: a pair of endangered African penguin chicks. The zoo announced Wednesday that the fluffy chicks, named Doug and Barbara, hatched two months ago.The eggs came from two breeding couples. The zoo says it's the first time eggs laid by its adult penguins have hatched there.Staff has been working with the chicks to get them used to humans before they are introduced into the penguin colony in the next few weeks.African penguins are an endangered species. Their numbers have dropped by more than 60% in the past three decades and only 23,000 breeding pairs are known to exist. The decline is blamed on several factors, including disease, habitat destruction and lack of food from overfishing, climate change and pollution. 781

(KGTV) -- The two soldiers killed in an aircraft accident on San Clemente Island have been identified, the U.S. Army Special Operations Command said Saturday.According to the news release, 33-year-old Staff Sgt. SAN DIEGO (AP) -- The Trump administration fully restored the Obama-era Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program for immigrants brought to the U.S. as young people, complying with a federal judge's order. The announcement is a major victory for people who have been unable to apply since Trump ended DACA in September 2017. His administration has long argued that DACA is unconstitutional. There is a key hearing Dec. 22 in Texas in a lawsuit by several states challenging DACA's legality.President-elect Joe Biden has pledged to reinstate DACA when he takes office in January but permanent legal status and a path to citizenship would require congressional approval. 686
