Defense attorneys for the suspect in the Pittsburgh synagogue massacre entered a plea of not guilty Thursday to federal charges and requested a jury trial.Robert Bowers, 46, walked into court in wrist and ankle restraints Thursday, his second court appearance this week, after a federal grand jury indicted him on 44 federal charges in last weekend's slaying of 11 worshippers at the Tree of Life synagogue.During the arraignment, Bowers watched prosecutors and nodded periodically. He responded "yes" that he understood the penalties of the charges, and his public defender, Michael J. Novara, entered a plea of not guilty "as is typical," he said.Of the 44 charges, 32 counts are punishable by death, a grand jury filing released Wednesday said.The court hearing comes the same day that crowds of mourners will lay more victims to rest and as their memorials continue to grow.On Monday, Bowers had been brought to the courtroom in a wheelchair and only spoke to answer the judge's questions. While the Trump campaign has filed several lawsuits, there is still no evidence that widespread voter fraud changed the outcome of the election.Several top officials in the Trump administration — including President Donald Trump himself — have contracted COVID-19 in recent weeks. (KGTV) - A horse died Monday at the Del Mar Fairgrounds, the fourth death at the track since the start of the summer racing season in July. “We are saddened to confirm that Bri Bri, an unraced three-year-old filly, was humanely euthanized today after suffering a serious injury to her pelvis during training,” the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club read in a statement. “We are deeply sorry for her and her human connections.” Emergency personnel and track veterinarians responded to the emergency immediately, said DMTC officials. Del Mar was among the nation’s safest racetracks last year, but experienced the deaths of two horses on the second day of the season. Charge A Bunch, trained by Carla Gaines, ran headfirst into Carson Valley, trained by Bob Baffert. Another of Baffert’s horses, Bowl of Soul, had a fetlock injury and was euthanized less than two weeks later. Bri Bri was trained by Jim Cassidy. Track officials said they will meet with him to discuss the matter. “Del Mar has implemented a series of safety and welfare reforms over the last several racing seasons, including the creation of an independent five-member panel to review all entries.
