NEW YORK — David Dinkins, the first Black mayor of New York City, died Monday at the age of 93.Dinkins was elected in 1989 and served as mayor from 1990 to 1993, making him the first and only Black man to serve as the city's mayor.He was born in 1927 in Trenton, New Jersey. He was drafted, served as a Marine and later graduated from Howard University and Brooklyn Law School. Nitro is coming to a Starbucks near you.Every company-operated US Starbucks location will offer the nitrogen-infused cold brew coffee, which comes out of a tap, by the end of next year to meet customer demand, the company said on Thursday.The expansion is part of Starbucks' plan to sell more products next year — especially as Frappucino sales slip.Frappuccinos used to help drive sales for Starbucks. But in recent years, increasingly health-conscious customers have turned on the sugary blended beverages.Cold drinks like iced espresso, cold brew and Refresher juice drinks have driven more than 80% of Starbucks' beverage growth over the last two years, said Roz Brewer, chief operating officer for Starbucks, during the company's investor day presentation."As you know, our primary softness has been centered around Frappuccino," Brewer said on Thursday.Frappuccino drinkers tend to treat the drink as a one-off purchase, she noted. But customers are more loyal to cold brews and iced coffees. "These categories are more habitual and create more brand affinity," she said.The company is not moving away from Frappuccinos, Brewer noted. Starbucks is just offering new options for the blended drinks and expanding its cold drink portfolio.Starbucks started selling Nitro in its Roastery and Tasting Room in Seattle. NEW YORK (AP) — Getting an Amazon package delivered from the sky is closer to becoming a reality. The Federal Aviation Administration said Monday it has granted Amazon approval to deliver packages by drones. Amazon says the approval is an important step, but added that it is still testing and flying the drones. It did not say when it expected drones to make deliveries to shoppers. Last year, Amazon unveiled self-piloting drones that are fully electric, can carry 5 pounds of goods and are designed to deliver items in 30 minutes by dropping them in a backyard.The FAA said Amazon is the third drone delivery service to win flight approval. News helicopters in Philadelphia captured demonstrations turning into lawlessness as several people were seen breaking into businesses Tuesday evening.Philadelphia Police said that a crowd of approximately 1,000 people were looting a business in Philadelphia on Tuesday.The unrest began on Monday after Walter Wallace Jr., a 27-year-old Black man, was shot and killed by officers in Philadelphia. Spokesperson Tanya Little of the Philadelphia Police said that Wallace was ordered to drop a knife before being shot by officers.The incident was captured on video from a bystander, and Little confirmed that two of the officers were wearing body worn cameras. Whether that video will be publicly released will be determined in the coming days.Video of the incident showed officers pointing a weapon at Wallace. After trying to back away from Wallace, officers then fired at him.Police Commissioner Danielle Outlaw said that a full investigation of what transpired is underway.Shaka Johnson, an attorney representing the Wallace family, told the Inquirer that family called for an ambulance and not officers.
