SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — FBI investigators are searching for a man they say robbed two Wells Fargo locations over the last two months.The man entered the Wells Fargo at 5522 Balboa Ave. just after 5 p.m. on Sept. 11 and handed the teller a note demanding money, according to FBI investigators. The man then left the bank on foot in an unknown direction.Investigators believe the same man also robbed another Wells Fargo location at 276 N. El Camino Real in Encinitas just after 3 p.m. on Oct. 6. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Eighty-five people linked to the Sinaloa Cartel were charged Thursday for their roles in a massive East County drug trafficking network.Eight indictments were unsealed in a San Diego federal court charging the alleged members with federal drug trafficking, money laundering, and firearms offenses, according to the Office of the United States Attorney Southern District of California.Investigators executed more than a dozen search warrants Thursday in a coordinated takedown of locations around the East County. Investigators discovered at least four pounds of methamphetamine and two firearms.The networks reportedly supplied a variety of controlled substances — like meth, heroin, and fentanyl — to distributors around Southern California, and then laundered tens of thousands of dollars in narcotics proceeds back to Sinaloa Cartel traffickers in Mexico.As of 1 p.m., 47 of the 85 charged were in federal or state custody. Some of the charges carry potential 20-year sentences and millions in fines.“Today we sent a message to drug traffickers in our community. If you sell drugs in San Diego, we will find you and prosecute you to the full extent of the law,” said U.S. Attorney Robert Brewer.Authorities used surveillance, wire taps on phones, and undercover agents to obtain evidence and track encrypted communication by members through services like WhatsApp and Signal.Through wiretaps, investigators seized about 175 pounds of methamphetamine, heroin, and fentanyl; about ,000 in cash, multiple firearms; and a 2020 Cadillac Escalade valued at 5,000.Defendants will start to be arraigned Friday. 1638

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Federal agents have been added to the investigation of a Kearny Mesa fire that gutted an off-roading business early Thursday morning.About 25 agents with National Response Team (NRT) of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) out of Los Angeles were requested by San Diego Fire-Rescue to assist with the probe.The NRT agents will arrive Friday and begin processing the scene at Off Road Warehouse Saturday, according to the ATF. They join other officials with ATF Los Angeles, SDFD, and the San Diego Police in the investigation. The fire comes five months after another fire ignited in November 2018. That fire, however, was reportedly ruled as an electrical fire.“ATF is committed to working alongside state and local law enforcement by bringing its resources to determine the origin and cause of this fire that resulted in a total loss for this business,” said Carlos Canino, the special agent in charge of ATF Los Angeles Field Division. “ATF will provide whatever is necessary to thoroughly investigate and provide answers.”Thursday's blaze was reported at about 1:30 a.m. at the ORW building (7915 Balboa Ave.) The fire caused an estimated .5 million in damages and the warehouse's contents were deemed a total loss. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Dozens of people came out to see a country music concert at Moonshine Beach in Pacific Beach Thursday night.The concert was scheduled before the Borderline Bar and Grill shooting in Thousand Oaks Thursday night.  Brodie Stewart was opening for Colt Ford.Country Music Stewart told 10News ahead of the show he would hold a moment of silence for the victims of Borderline during his show. He also said proceeds from his merchandise sales would also be donated to victim’s families.“It’s hard to talk about because it’s so close for our friends and the country music community,” Stewart said. “It’s been devastating.”Becky Williams, a long-time country music fan, said it’s unfortunate that it was the second attack in a country music venue in just a little over a year.  The Route 91 Harvest Festival in Las Vegas in October 2017, was the deadliest attack by a lone gunman in America.  Despite the repeated attacks, Williams said that she didn’t think twice about attending the concert Thursday night.“Heck no, country music is my life,” Williams told 10News.Survivors from the Las Vegas shooting said the Borderline shooting reopened old wounds and churned up former emotions.“I still haven’t been able to really cope with it, and it brought that back up to the surface,” said Kyle Hurd, who survived the Las Vegas shooting.Others shared the same sentiment, saying it was the best place anyone part of the country music could be.“We love that we can get together and mourn together and we understand each other,” Kimberly Burroughs said. 1578

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Fernanda Whitworth watched her husband Ralph battle cancer for years."He couldn't swallow, he couldn't talk or basically eat. So he lost 45 pounds, it's literally barbaric."Ralph Whitworth was diagnosed with HPV-related tongue cancer in 2013. It eventually claimed his life in 2016.Before Ralph died, the Whitworths began a quest to find a cure. It's a mission Fernanda has carried on."I feel like we are so close; we're on the tipping point of finding a cure," she explained. The nonprofit they founded in San Diego, The Immunotherapy Foundation, is dedicated to funding the most promising research on HPV-driven cancers."This is a huge problem. Not only does HPV account for six different cancer types, almost 100 percent of cervical cancers and in men, now those instances are rising for head and neck cancer, " said Dr. Ezra Cohen, who is the Associate Director for Translational Science at UC San Diego Moores Cancer Center. The Centers for Disease Control estimate that about 14 million people get a new HPV infection every year in the U.S. Nearly all men and women who have ever had sex get at least one type of genital HPV at some time in their lives. The Immunotherapy Foundation has focused its efforts on three categories:  1321
