LANZHOU, Aug. 22 (Xinhua) -- Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, on Wednesday morning visited a rural community in Gulang County in northwestern Gansu Province, saying the happiness of the people is what the CPC pursues.
He urged efforts to help labor-intensive enterprises and those faced with temporary difficulties pull through, and put tax and fee reduction policies in place to ease financing difficulties for private, small- and micro-sized companies.
He also said that the gap of absolute per capita income between China and the United States has widened from 43,000 U.S. dollars to 46,000 U.S. dollars between 2000 and 2016.
The four-day event brings together more than 4,000 representatives from over 60 countries and regions, including senior managers from Global Fortune 500 companies, said the organizing committee.
Zhao visited a local village, a community, a company and an environmental protection project site in the region, talking with Party members and cadres at the primary level as well as members of the public.
