"The CPC in Dialogue with the World 2016" conference attracted over 300 delegates from more than 50 countries, including party leaders, politicians, think-tank members, academics and representatives of business, according to the International Department of the Central Committee of CPC at the opening ceremony of the conference.

Chinese President Xi Jinping, together with other senior leaders including Zhang Dejiang, Yu Zhengsheng, Liu Yunshan, Wang Qishan and Zhang Gaoli, as well as some 1,200 people from home and abroad attended the reception.

"We did what we could to help, even when China was poor," he said, adding that "now China has made great progress in its economy, but we still are a developing country."
