Household income grew by an average of more than ,000 in Democratic-leaning congressional districts, compared to more than ,000 in Republican-leaning districts.What impact that has going into the 2020 elections remains to be seen, experts said.“Surely new evidence of income level rises in coastal and more highly educated districts relative to others plays to the Democrats’ strength,” said William Frey, a senior fellow at The Brookings Institution. “But it also makes clear they need to redouble their efforts to court non-college voters in less prosperous districts in the run-up to the 2020 election.”The greater income growth in Democratic-leaning districts likely had to do with the fact that they’re in cities where incomes tend to be higher, Vitner said.“Republican districts tend to be more rural and have lower wages,” he said.In some areas, the growth in household income was enormous. In House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s district, located in San Francisco, the epicenter of the last decade’s tech boom, household income jumped by a third from almost 0,500 to more than 0,000.In other areas, income growth was significantly more modest.In the district that covers Huntington, West Virginia, average household income only went up 5% to about ,500. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services defines it as a hormonal imbalance that affects 1 in 10 women. For Yackwack, it meant weight gain and a lot of changes for what her future would look like."Back when I first got diagnosed, (doctors) were like 'it’s going to be really hard to get pregnant,'" said Yackwack.Last year, she made a decision for herself to have gastric sleeve surgery. It was a surgery that would remove more than half of her stomach.Her weight loss was evident in pictures and her doctors said she was doing great.But in August, it was when her success turned into a scare.“I woke up with a very bad back pain. I was crying and like screaming and I woke up my other half and I was like 'my back really hurts. I’m not sure what’s really going on,'" said Yackwack.A trip to the bathroom didn't seem right to her. She thought a cyst ruptured due to her PCOS, she said it happened all the time.Turns out, she was 35 weeks pregnant. "(Doctors) came and did a fourth ultrasound and they went up like in my ribcage and they’re like, 'oh yeah. There’s a baby in there. It’s a big baby. GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — A boy in Kent County, Michigan, brought his entire class with him Thursday morning as he received a gift just in time for the holidays: a forever home.Five-year-old Michael Orlando Clark Jr. wanted all his friends to see the moment he was officially adopted, so he brought them to 17th Circuit Court to cheer him on.His parents, Andrea Melvin and David Eaton, knew Michael was the right fit for their family after fostering."He brings us a lot of joy,” Melvin said. “He's just so full of energy and so full of love, it's just been great for everybody.”There was no shortage of love around them in the courtroom."It is a great tribute to Michael that he had so many of his classmates here and so many said he was their best friend too,” Michigan Supreme Court Justice Stephen Markman said.Judge Patricia Gardner said she had never experience something like that before.“Never have I experienced that before, and it was loads of fun, the kids were into it and supporting their best friend, and the family of Michael,” she said.After Thursday’s ceremony, Eaton said he hopes other families get to share the inspiring experience his has gone through.Thirty-six other kids were also adopted Thursday as part of the 23rd annual adoption day in Kent County. 1284
