SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - On Wednesday, emotional testimony was read in a downtown courtroom by the husband and wife who were brutally attacked in an economy parking lot outside of the San Diego International Airport. The testimony was read during the sentencing hearing for Alberto Jauregui, who pleaded guilty to attempted murder. Jauregui appeared to show no remorse. He smirked and smiled at the couple and at our camera. It was last October when police say Jauregui came up to Donna Kashani and husband Robert Bobbett in the parking lot. He reportedly grabbed Kashani by her neck and demanded the keys to their SUV. “You put me in a headlock with a 10-inch knife to my neck and you were dragging me into our SUV and demanding that I get in with you,” Kashani told him and the courtroom.  In a heroic move, Bobbett threw himself in front of her and charged at Jauregui.  “As I rushed toward you, I truly believed I was going to die in this struggle,” Bobbett told Jauregui and the courtroom. He added, “You stabbed me in the chest nearly hitting my heart. All the while [you were] screaming ‘Die, die, die!’”  Bobbett was stabbed six times and nearly died.  Jauregui was caught days later. During Wednesday’s sentencing hearing, he told the courtroom, “You guys have made a big mistake by not giving me help. Instead of giving me help, you want to punish me.” He’ll spend the next 13 years in state prison. 1456

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Police are investigating the death of a child at a Tierrasanta home Tuesday.San Diego Police responded to the 3100 Block of Minuteman St. just before 11 a.m. to reports of a four-month-old child not breathing. When paramedics arrived, they began CPR on the infant.First responders were not able to revive the child.Police do not suspect the death to be criminal in nature at this point. However, police said since they are still not sure what led to the baby's death, they are investigating.The child died in a home in a military housing neighborhood.  624

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Padres outfielder Tommy Pham is recovering after being stabbed in the back Sunday night, the team says.According to San Diego Police, Pham was stabbed during an altercation Sunday night.The Padres said Monday that Pham is in “good condition.” He is expected to make a full recovery.“We are aware of the incident last night involving Tommy Pham. He was treated at UC San Diego Health and is currently in good condition. He is expected to make a full recovery. The San Diego Police Department is actively investigating the incident and we will have no further comment at this time,” the Padres said.Pham Monday also thanked the medical staff in charge of his care.“I’d like to thank the incredible medical staff at UC San Diego Health for taking such great care of me last night. I truly appreciate the hard work of the SDPD as well as they continue their search for the suspects. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Police are investigating a shooting in San Diego’s Corridor area that was reported following a vehicle crash early Tuesday morning.A DoorDash driver told ABC 10News he was on his way to make a delivery when he was involved in a collision with a car on 37th Street and El Cajon Boulevard at around 4 a.m.The other car drove off, and the DoorDash driver followed it to 37th Street and Meade Avenue until the car came to a stop.According to the delivery driver, two men got out of the car and fired shots towards him. The delivery driver said he was not struck by the gunfire and was able to drive away to call 911.A short time later, at an apartment complex in the 4600 block of 35th Street, police spotted the car that matched the delivery driver’s description.A woman believed to be the car’s driver and two others were detained for questioning by officers.There is no word on if any arrests were made. 930

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — One of the most controversial developments in San Diego's recent history is now welcoming its first residents.The One Paseo development has leased about 60 of its planned 608 housing units, most of which are still under construction.The complex aims to put everything within the reach of its residents in a live, work, play environment. The model units are even staged to make the most discriminating apartment shopper feel right at home. The fridge is stocked with sodas, candy, snacks, and even beer. "If you come here, it's like living on a vacation everyday," said Jay Rey-Hiplito, Kilroy's vice president. Rey-Hipolito says with San Diego's supply crunch, renters are willing to live in dense apartment complexes like One Paseo. He says they are increasingly looking at the housing units as places where they rest, spending their leisure time and entertaining at the amenities. The complex includes two pools (one saltwater), a community room, and an expansive gym. In all, that's why he believes the price is right for the units. Studios start at ,350 a month, and the model two-bedroom, at 1,058 square feet, goes for between ,600 and ,800 a month."Instead of looking at price, it's important to focus on value," Rey-Hiploito said.
