CINCINNATI — Cincinnati police, who were told a car was stolen with an infant still inside, now say that a child was never in danger and that the person who reported the car stolen lied to get a quicker response from police.Just before 10 p.m. Thursday evening, a 2010 Mercury Milan was reported stolen from a BP gas station in the 1300 block of Hopple Street with a 10-month-old infant still inside.Police caught up with two suspects in the car shortly before 11 p.m., and the suspects fled the vehicle about five miles away from where it was reported stolen.Officers did not find a child inside the vehicle, and the suspects evaded capture, police said.Cincinnati police said the person who reported the car stolen changed his story about 45 minutes into their investigation, saying the infant was not in the car when it was stolen."He stated that there's some money in the car, and that's why he told us there was a 10-month-old in the car, because he knew it would be a top priority for us if this was the case," Cincinnati Police Capt. CHULA VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) - A skate park that was once riddled with graffiti is getting a grand homecoming in the South Bay.The City of Chula Vista will hold a grand reopening of the Len Moore Skate Park on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., with raffles, prizes., local vendors, live music, and demonstrations by skating pros.The Boys and Girls Club closed the park last August due to costly maintenance and repair issues. This led to the organization giving up the park to the city.Since that time, though, vandalism and graffiti became a constant concern, which led to the park's reopening in February. City officials will now monitor the park for cleanliness and graffiti."Before the city could actually open it up there were some minor maintenance things that we needed to take care of. There were some ramps that needed to be taken out and demolished. There was a lot of graffiti," Gil Contreras, principal recreations manager with the City of Chula Vista, said.Community members had a say in the park's reopening as well. A series of community meetings asked the public what they wanted out of the park, the priority being the ability to skate for free. The park will also offer skate classes, day camps, and birthday party rentals.RESOURCES: Learning how to skateboard"We definitely took everything into consideration when reopening the park. [Community members] were concerned about the graffiti and the vandalism and things like that," Contreras said. "We did reassure them ... we have park rangers who frequently visit all of our parks. We have a staff who actually comes through every day and just kind of gets an idea and looks at everything and talks to the patrons."Since February's reopening, Contreras says all the city has received are positive remarks.The park is open daily from 8 a.m. to dusk to skateboarding, BMX bikes, scooters, in-line skating, and roller skating. CHULA VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) — A South Bay mother was alarmed to find a man standing over her daughter's bed early Saturday.Police say the mom discovered the strange man just after 6:30 a.m. standing over her 10-year-old daughter as she slept at their home on Madison Ave. The man ran past the mom and out the back door, running south on Madison Ave., police added.The woman's daughter was not harmed. Police say there were at least two other young girls in the house as well.Police said the suspect may have gained entry through an unlocked back door.Police are searching for the suspect, described as an either white or Hispanic man, with a bald head, and possibly tattoos on his face.Anyone with information is asked to call Chula Vista Police at 619-691-5151. 769

More than 60 homeless children and families had their holiday gifts paid for by a group fundraiser. ‘Making San Diego Smile’ formed at the end of November and was able to escort each child on a 0 Walmart shopping spree Wednesday night.“It just brings joy to my heart to know in such a short time we were able to bless so many children,” said Tony Castro, one of the organizers behind 'Making San Diego Smile.'The group says the fundraiser will be much larger next year after knowing the the popularity of it in just a few weeks. 657

(KGTV) -- A traveling caravan was one of several events that took place around San Diego County to commemorate Juneteenth.Angie Stuart, a retired Southwestern College professor, said with the current unrest she felt it was important to show support for the African-American community, so she organized a caravan.On Friday morning, cars were decorated with posters, balloons, and streamers. People from all backgrounds came together to support one cause -- Black Lives Matter.The caravan gathered to mark this important day in history, Juneteenth -- the day in 1865 when slaves in Texas learned they were free, two and a half years after the Emancipation Proclamation.RELATED: The history behind JuneteenthKatie Ness Santana brought her three kids to the caravan. She wanted them to learn about this significant day in history and why it’s important to have equal rights for all.“We just really wanted to celebrate this important day and raise awareness so the Black community throughout San Diego know we support them. We are allies, and it’s a great opportunity to teach the boys an important event I wasn’t even aware of,” she said.Community activist Katrina Jordan joined the gathering for her son. Her way of bringing attention to the changes that need to be made.“I have a son that’s 39 years old. He’s one of the big, tall, dark skinned. He’s viewed as a threat, so I had to come out,” Jordan said. “We’re tired … this has been going on so long [and] something has to change.”Participants told 10News that they want Juneteenth to become a national holiday. 1590
