SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Deputies credited hikers for calling 911, saving a man who had fallen through the ice at Big Laguna Lake Sunday morning. The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department received a call around 11:45 about a man who trapped in the lake after falling through ice. According to the department, the man, who is in his 60s, tried to ski on the ice, but fell in because the ice was too thin. A helicopter was able to quickly descend on the lake, lowering a flotation device down to the man. “He knew he didn’t have much more in him. He knew he had to get out of that water. He didn’t have much time,” Deputy Bill Liniewicz said. RELATED: Man dies on Lincoln Park sidewalk, police sayCal Fire and San Diego Sheriff’s Department all worked together on the rescue. Video from the scene shows a helicopter lowering a rescue device down to the man trapped in the water. Cal Fire took to social media following the incident to warn of the dangers near bodies of water as people swarm to see the recent snow that fell on the San Diego County mountains. “If visiting the snow please remember to stay away from all bodies of water and stay on designated trails,” the agency said. 1186

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Extreme temperatures set several records in cities across San Diego County on Saturday.As the region sweltered under the heat, the mercury went soaring. Seven records were set, including:Escondido: 111 degrees (old record was 108 in 1984)Ramona: 112 degrees (old record was 102 in 2006)Alpine: 113 degrees (old record was 110 in 1984)El Cajon: 114 degrees (old record was 107 in 1984)Palomar Mountain: 97 degrees (old record was 96 in 1955)Campo: 108 degrees (old record was 104 in 1955)Borrego Springs: 117 degrees (old record was 113 in 1989)Poway unofficially set an all-time record of 113 degrees, but it falls out of the National Weather Services 30-year period of record.Temperatures across the county on Saturday were forecasted to hit as high as 122 while many coastal areas could see high 90s.Saturday into Sunday, overnight temperatures along the coast, inland, and mountain areas will hover in the 70s most of the night, and 90s and 80s in the deserts. A gradual return to cooler temperatures won't be in the mix until beginning Monday for coastal communities. Above normal temperatures are expected through next week. 1156

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - From a —risqué — galaxy far, far away comes a twist on "Star Wars" that could make a Stormtrooper blush."The Empire Strips Back - A Burlesque Parody" heads to San Diego's Spreckels Theater next month, featuring a unique (and obviously, 18 years or older) take on the iconic film franchise."Empire Strips Back" combines striptease, song, dance routines as burlesque dancers perform as Stormtroopers, Boba Fett, droids, and even Darth Vader and a Skywalker.SAN DIEGO THEATER: Shows coming to local theaters this year"We never stop developing the show — always trying to make it bigger and crazier, and, yes, reach the standard of quality of the films," show creator Russall Beattie says. "Everywhere we go, our fans are passionate and excited, and they deserve an unforgettable, fun night out."The word "burlesque" is derived from words meaning "parody" or "caricature," making Beattie's promise of "plenty of Aussie humor" all the more guaranteed.
