SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego’s City Council voted 6-3 Monday evening to approve a five-year lease extension for the Campland on the Bay campground. The city struck a deal with Campland to expand into De Anza Cove and remove the crumbling mobile home park. Earlier in the day Monday, competing rallies took place outside council chambers. The issue on the agenda Monday – the future of about 75 acres on the northwest portion of Mission Bay. Currently, it’s an RV Park next to a mobile home park crumbling with asbestos and warning signs keeping the public out. The operator of the RV park is terminating its lease later in June. Campland on the Bay has operated for 50 years just to the west. It’s offering to take over the lease for the RV park and add the mobile home park for five years. It would do ,000,000 of improvements, including getting rid of old homes. A group called the ReWild Mission Bay Coalition is fighting back. The coalition wants the city to pursue restoring the area to its natural habitat, fearing that entering into what’s supposed to be a temporary arrangement could end up becoming a long-tern solution. Faulconer said. "Millions of women can cast their ballots in November because our nation had the collective will to enshrine in our constitution this fundamental right. The conference held at Qualcomm brings in hundreds of engineers, researchers, scientists and every woman in between. Behind it all, there's CEO of Athena Holly Smithson, video game coder Jillian Moore, and senior program manager at Intuit KImbra Brookstein. The summit creates a space where women can share stories and learn new skills to skyrocket their careers in STEM. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Shakespeare Pub & Grille hosted a British themed royal watch party to celebrate Prince Harry and Megan Markle's wedding. The pub started their party at 5 a.m. The crowd all dressed in hats and fascinators. The party was complete with an English breakfast and champagne.  322

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Seven people were displaced following a house fire in Mountain View early Saturday morning, according to San Diego Fire-Rescue.The fire was reported just after 3:30 a.m. on Teak Street near Ocean View Boulevard. Crews quickly responded and were able to get the blaze under control. The home that burned sits on a lot with a second home in front, and the front house was not damaged.Family and residents of the front house said they believe the fire started from a washer/dryer unit. They also said that they had to pull bars off of a window to help people escape, with those outside pulling and those inside kicking on the bars. Four people were were hurt after climbing through the broken window.Crews say a total of seven people were displaced and the American Red Cross was called in to help, but family on scene said everyone is okay. They said the hardest part is realizing they lost everything, including Christmas presents that the two little girls who lived in the burned home had just unwrapped the day before.The family started a GoFundMe to raise money following the fire. 1112
