CINCINNATI — "The NRA is a terrorist organization.”Mad Dog PAC, a Maryland-based political action committee, paid to put messages like this one on billboards all over the country, including over northbound Interstate 75 in Middletown. Their installations, which include an "Impeachment Now" sign near President Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida and 14 other National Rifle Association-centric billboards across the country, are splashy, provocative and to-the-point, calling for regulation of the NRA and the removal of various "Treasonweasel" Republican politicians.PAC chair Claude Taylor said the messages are as severe as they need to be."We think the NRA is acting very much like a terrorist organization," he said. Colorado Parks and Wildlife said that a yearling bear that was burned during a wildfire last month is recovering well and should be released in coming weeks.The bear was found in the midst of the East Canyon Fire, which burned thousands of acres in southwest Colorado last month, and rescued by CPW officers, who took it to the Frisco Creek rehab facility for treatment on its singed paws and other injuries.The bear is a yearling born during the winter in 2019, CPW said. CPW Officer Steve McClung said at the time the bear likely got caught in the wildfire and had to run across hot spots. The veterinary manager at Frisco Creek said the bear’s injuries would likely not lead to any permanent damage.On Tuesday, CPW sent out new photos of the bear looking healthier already, and said that Frisco Creek had given good news on the bear’s rehab progress. 861

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Ohio State football players and their parents were given a pledge to sign, asking them to acknowledge the risk of COVID-19 and take responsibility for their own health and safety, according to a document obtained by ESPN and The Columbus Dispatch.The electronic pledge, called the “Buckeye Pledge,” states that players will agree to COVID-19 testing and potential self-quarantine if they test positive. CLEVELAND — As we’ve seen throughout this pandemic, people on both sides of the mask debate are passionate about where they stand.“It’s very sad that this has become a political issue,” said Sharona Hoffman, a professor of Law and Bioethics at Case Western Reserve University.On Wednesday night, an order from Governor Mike DeWine will take effect, requiring masks in public settings in parts of Ohio, including Ohio's three largest cities of Cleveland, Columbus and Cincinnati. Ohio, unlike a number of other states, does not have a statewide mandate on wearing masks. The move sparked increased chatter around the claim that these mandates infringe on the rights of Americans.“This shouldn’t be about people’s liberties,” said Hoffman.Government mandates are nothing new.“We have to pay taxes, we have to abide by the speed limit,” said Hoffman.During this pandemic, regulations requiring masks are no different and totally appropriate, according to Hoffman.“This type of regulation is legal, constitutional and very, very sensible,” said Hoffman.One of the main responsibilities of elected officials is to ensure the health and safety of those they serve.“It wouldn’t make sense to even have a government if their hands were tied and they couldn’t take these measures,” said Hoffman.Hoffman said people should be willing to mask-up on their own and not be told to do so.“This should be something that people are very willing to do not only to protect themselves but also to protect other people,” said Hoffman.
