Caesars Entertainment Corporation announced plans Wednesday to bring a non-gaming Caesars Palace resort to beach-front property along the coast of Puerto Los Cabos, Mexico. The 0 million luxury beachfront hotel will be developed by Grupo Questro. Caesars Entertainment will manage the property and receive a licensing and management fee. It is set to break ground in early 2019. The non-gaming luxury beachfront hotel will feature 500 rooms and suites, a 40,000-square foot convention center, a 25,000-square foot full-service spa, three fine dining restaurants, an array of amenities including an entertainment venue, pools, cabanas, fitness center, tennis courts and access to the two signature golf courses. The beach-front property will be situated in the Puerto Los Cabos Tourist Corridor and the San Jose del Cabo resort city on the southern tip of the Baja California peninsula.The announcement of the Puerto Los Cabos project follows last week’s announcement that Caesars Entertainment will manage two luxury hotels and a beach club at Meraas’ Dubai-based Bluewaters Island development. CANTON, Ohio -- An Ohio police department is investigating three separate homicides that happened within 24 hours, including the death of a 1-year-old twin boy who was shot and killed while sleeping.Police in Canton, which is about 60 miles south of Cleveland, say the first homicide happened on Tuesday at around 8:25 p.m. in the 1400 block of Louisiana Court Northwest. A 31-year-old man, identified as Ronald Pleasant, was shot and killed at the scene. A 21-year-old man was shot and taken to a nearby hospital. His injuries are not life-threatening.The second homicide happened in the 100 block of Pulley Place SE at around 10:43 p.m. A 20-year-old man, identified as Brandon Bush, and another 20-year-old man, were both shot. Both were transported to local hospitals by the Canton Fire Department. Bush died from his injuries.The third homicide happened at around 2:28 a.m. Wednesday in the 1600 block of Clarendon Avenue SW. One-year-old twin brothers were shot while sleeping inside a home on Clarendon Avenue. Both were transported by the Canton Fire Department to local hospitals where one of the brothers, identified as Ace Lucas, died. CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. — The biggest, most sophisticated Mars rover ever built is on its way to the red planet. NASA's Perseverance blasted off from Cape Canaveral, Florida, atop an Atlas V rocket Thursday morning. It's the first step in an ambitious project to bring the first Martian rock samples back to Earth to be analyzed for evidence of ancient life. The six-wheeled rover will drill down and collect tiny geological samples that will eventually be retrieved and brought home in about a decade. China and the United Arab Emirates also have spacecraft en route to Mars, after launching last week. They are all due to arrive at Mars in February. 656

CARLSBAD (KGTV) — The new reality that major theme parks like Legoland won't be able to reopen for months is reverberating well beyond the gates.That's because local businesses are no longer able to draw much-needed customers from the park."When they're down, it gives all the leisure marketplace reason to pause and say, do we want to travel?" said Tim Stripe, co-president of Grand Pacific Resorts, which owns multiple hotels and timeshares within walking distance of Legoland.The governor's office announced this week that major theme parks such as Legoland could not open until counties enter the least restrictive tier of coronavirus restrictions. San Diego County is two tiers away, meaning the move could take months. Bret Schanzenbach, CEO of the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce, said there are many reasons to visit the city, including golf, beaches, and the outlet mall, but nothing brings tourists like Legoland. "The explosion of hotels that we've had since Legoland opened is undeniable, and the skyrocketing of our tourism dollars in this area since Legoland has opened is undeniable," he said. "All those other amenities are great and they play off of each other, but Legoland is the biggest draw in North San Diego County."Stripe said his company has closed one of its hotel facilities, while the other two are at 40% capacity, with employment cut in about half. He said the hotels get 20% of their guests directly because of Legoland. It's not just hotels, but also restaurants. Carlsbad's Green Dragon Tavern and Museum is taking a double hit. CHICAGO (AP) — An attorney for a U.S. Army special forces sergeant arrested in what authorities are calling an apparently random shooting at an Illinois bowling alley that left three dead has told an initial hearing that her client may suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder. Duke Webb appeared in a Winnebago County courtroom in Rockford Monday. He faces three counts of murder and three counts of first-degree attempted murder in the shooting at Don Carter Lanes, in Rockford, on Saturday. According to The Associated Press, the three men who died were aged 73, 65, and 69.The AP reported that two teenagers were wounded - a 14-year-old boy was shot in the face, a 16-year-old girl was shot in the shoulder, and a 62-year-old man who was shot several times.His lawyer also told the court Webb appeared to have issues with memory loss and that he'll undergo mental health evaluations. A judge denied Webb's bond and set his arraignment for Feb. 16. The Army says Webb had four deployments to Afghanistan, the last ending in July. 1042
